Re: The X Factor 2007

Don't know the songs yet BUT it's a double elimination on Saturday.

Paddy's aren't so sure though. Ladbrokes and William Hill on the other hand aren't taking any chances and have no odds on this weekend's elimination/s yet.

Re: The X Factor 2007

Oh wait a minute...songs have been put about in the last hour or so:

Boys ~
Andy Williams: Herb Alpert's This Guy's in Love with You
Leon Jackson: Kaye Ballard/Frank Sinatra's Fly Me to the Moon
Rhydian Roberts: Pink's Get The Party Started (oh Gawd, it's the funkified Shirley Bassey version)

Girls ~
Alisha Bennett: The Zutons' Valerie (obviously the funkified Mark Ronson/Amy Winehouse version)
Emily Nakanda: Bjork's It's Oh So Quiet

Over 25's ~
Beverley Trotman: Nina Simone's Feelin' Good (well I assume that's the best known version)
Niki Evans: All That Jazz from Chicago

Groups ~
Futureproof: Frankie Valli's Can't Take My Eyes Off You (the Andy Williams one is probably more well-known though)
Hope: Madonna's Hanky Panky (uh...)
Same Difference: S Club 7's Reach (I shit ye not)

Re: The X Factor 2007

Initial thoughts based on the song choices..

Rydian - WTF...? However Rhydian has his following so should be safe..
Leon - A good choice for him as he has a good swing voice.. The Scottish following will make sure he doesnt go out...
Andy - Hmmm...One of my outright tips ...Not sure what this song is..Could be dodgy..

Alisha - Should suit her..Maybe the song being in the charts at the moment will help her survive...One of my other outright tips... (deary me...)
Emily - Ouch !! Final nail in the coffin for Emily...She should be a gonna..However...

Beverley - My final outright tip .... Should be one of the best performance of the night has the Beverley Express hits full speed ahead (well I can dream...)
Niki - Safe song..I don't like her, but everyone else does...She won't win the whole though (damnit!)

Futureproof - Another dodgy choice...Cowell is happy to discard this lot methinks...Could be a shock elimination
Hope - Cowell's girls will pull off another good performance as Simon manipulates his way to gettin the girls to win
Same Difference - Typical choice and should keep 'em in...

On the balance of probability I reckon a group or unders male is due to go though....However...My tips for elimnation - two of - Emily, Futureproof and Andy

There is the Muse version, but I'm not sure they'd do this one!

Re: The X Factor 2007

No but I did think the Muse fans might have stuck their oar in on this one!

Odds over at Skybet on who'll be eliminated have gone done rather sharpish...

William Hill's odds on who'll be the third person eliminated:

Alisha (Sharon) 2/1
Emily (Sharon) 3/1
Same Difference (Simon) 9/2
Leon (Dannii) 6/1
Andy (Dannii) 6/1
Beverley (Louis) 10/1
Rhydian (Dannii) 16/1
Futureproof (Simon) 20/1
Niki (Louis) 25/1
Hope (Simon) 25/1

Will Emily be gone on Saturday? I think she is a goner but not because of her singing.

X Factor Emily batters girl

The only reason she could possibly stay is that Simon Cowell and the producers wants to make her a villain and wants some more 'controversy'....or the odds on her drop to such an extent that Simon and company want to get rid of someone who has better odds. I dunno. I'm that cynical.

The likes of Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and William Hill may be saved because there'll be a bottom three this time and the third person eliminated is automatic whilst the bottom two will face a sing-off as to who'll be the fourth person gone...like what happened last year when Dionne was eliminated first and Ashley survived ahead of Kerry in the sing-off.

The X Factor (UK series 3) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wouldn't it be odd if the bottom three were all female soloists...again?

Betfair will probably be a bugger in that they'll suspend and refund all bets if there's a double elimination this Saturday anyway.

Outright odds and sods over at Skybet as well:

I think despite Niki performing quite well this early on that she is however a complete red herring and will not be allowed to win (a bit like what rick says). I think personally this is one of those 'tax loss' years for Simon Cowell.

William Hill's opinion on the outright winner market from readabet.com:

William Hill have also seen money for Rydian to win the X Factor and he has now been cut to 5/1 to 3/1. Niki remains the favourite at 5/2 closely followed by 3/1 shots Hope and Rydian, whilst Alisha and Same Difference are the friendless 33/1 outsiders.

"On paper an opera singer is not an obvious choice to win the X Factor but he is an impressive figure and he can always rely on the Welsh vote," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams

William Hill X Factor Winner: 5/2 Niki, 3/1 Hope, 3/1 Rydian, 4/1 Futurproof, 14/1 Andy, 14/1 Leon, 14/1 Beverley, 25/1 Emily, 33/1 Alisha, 33/1 Same Difference.

PREDICTIONS FOR SATURDAY!? Andy automatically eliminated. Sing-off between Alesha and Emily with Emily gone.

I think Dannii will have one of her acts eliminated before Simon does, Louis surely won't lose another act before Sharon and surely one of Sharon's acts will have to go this time!?

Am I betting on it? Am I fuck (that's a NO by the way!).

OT: Daniel has 'sour grapes'?

The X Factor - News - Axed Daniel accuses 'X Factor' of conspiracy - Digital Spy
The X Factor - News - 'X Factor's Daniel slams 'ignorant' Osbourne - Digital Spy

Hmmm. Seems my prejudices about Sharon's tutorship might not be unfounded. Don't think she'd advise Ozzy to do a dance routine. What a stupid moo Sharon is.

Re: The X Factor 2007

As much as I'd say Emily should go, there is something that tells me she won't..

She has probably has had as much coverage at the audition programmes than anyone else.. She is also (correct me if I'm wrong) the only under 16 contestant, and as this is the first season they have opened up the show for 14 and 15 year olds, I'm sure Cowell will want such a contestant to have a good run in the show.

When the judges gave her the feedback last week, it was blatentaly obvious that they were restrained - almost treading on eggshells - not to go too heavy on her. Ok I know they didnt want Sharon to lose another one either, but bar Daniel she was by far the worst performance and to watch Cowell give restrained feedback, which in all other circumstances would have a full on Simon ear bashing was almost embarrassing..

It is time a group or a under 24 male went, and I agree that Andy looks the one at risk the most.. However after Daniel going do they really want another male 'heart throb' to go?

I suppose this harks back to my other post..Maybe it's time we had a group out and maybe a shock - Futureproof? ..

Oh well - Emily should go..But will she?

Not worth a bet before the show as too many questions..

I guess it's a case of betting in running and see how they perform on the night..

Re: The X Factor 2007

I wouldn't argue with you as it looks like it's been profitable stuff betting in-running. I would not be surprised to see Simon stab himself in the back to prolong the 'entertainment' with Same Difference or as you suggest Futureproof eliminated but I'd say it's not going to happen tomorrow night.

There's always the villain in TXF when somebody stays on too long...Alisha (probably should have been eliminated by now), Emily (happy slapper...twice!), Rhydian (even though he's been touted as a likely winner). Who knows what direction TXF will go for?

Hmmm. Today's Bettingzone Market Moves:

1250: Following the revelations that Emily has featured in a happy slapping clip, Hills have shortened her price to 2/1 joint favourite to be evicted from The X Factor this weekend.

"There's no doubt that if Emily is in the final two the judges will get rid of her - she has become an embarrassment to the show," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams.

Re: The X Factor 2007

Today's Bettingzone Marklet News:

1440: Paddy Power has revised their X Factor betting following Emily’s decision to withdraw from the show today.

And her mobile madness has heaped the pressure on Alisha to survive this week. In what had looked a two-horse race for survival between Alisha and the disgraced Emily now sees Alisha odds-on favourite at 8/11 to get the boot.

The happy-slapping Emily wasn’t seen as a contender by punters having been priced at 40/1 to win this year’s show. However her withdrawal may have pre-empted a possible elimination on Saturday anyway where Emily had been the 9/4 second favourite to go.

Sharon McHugh, Paddy Power’s reality TV betting expert, said: "Emily’s exit makes Alisha’s prospects now look very bleak this week. Emily almost certainly would have faced a public backlash for her misdemeanours."

=============

Hmmm. Well that's thrown everything up in the air. No double elimination tomorrow because Emily's quit.

Re: The X Factor 2007

The more I think about it the more I think Futureproof could be the shock exit tomorrow...

Shit song, possibly Cowell least favourite group and I can't see how they'll allow both sets of 'rejects' (ie Futureproof and Hope) too much mileage. I find them having no appeal or charisma, and what is different about this boyband..? Nothing...

Maybe they won't go this week, but their days are numbered, however I cannot resist the 33/1 that Stan James offer..

Anyhow how can they leave Sharon with no acts after tomorrow..?

Off to the Calzaghe fight tomorrow, so no in-play for me..However a speculative tenner could reap big rewards !!

Futureproof to be the next evictd act - 1 pt stake @ 33/1 (Stan James)

As a 'fond farewell' If you are interested in watching Emily's happy slappin moment, it's here on video... Not particularly violent, unless you deem pulling a girl's hair as violent.....

Re: The X Factor 2007

Hmmm. Yesterday's Bettingzone Market News:

1610: Emily's rumoured departure from X-Factor will leave Sky Bet with a five-figure payout.

The bookmaker had a host of X-Factor specials in the weeks leading up to the show's launch and report that over 100 small-staking punters backed 'any finalist to quit' at 12/1 in August, forcing the price into 4/1.

Helen Jacob, Sky Bet's entertainment manager, said: "No-one has ever quit X-Factor before, the only time something similar happened was Rik Waller leaving Pop Idol due to laryngitis.

"We were bemused when we saw punters heavily backing the 12/1 in August and so slashed the odds considerably. There are some very shrewd punters out there who will definitely be pleased to see Emily quit the show!"

It also looks like Sharon's hopes of winning have gone - she is now out to 33/1 to be the winning manager.

============

Insider information or just a lucky punt? Buggers anyhoo. Still no bet from me on who'll now be the fourth act eliminated.

Odds on who'll be the fourth act eliminated from Paddy Power:

Alisha Bennett 5/6
Andy Williams 3/1
Same Difference 4/1
Leon Jackson 10/1
Beverley Trottman 10/1
Futureproof 25/1
Rhydian Roberts 33/1
Hope 40/1
Niki Evans 50/1

Re: The X Factor 2007

Wish I'd got on that 33/1 for Futureproof, didn't really think much of their song choice or their performance. Into 20/1 now.

Not a big fan of Same Difference either, though the bullying story could keep them in this week.
