Or you could have got 10s on them on
Betfair like I did
Not gonna claim any credit for it as I haven't watched a minute of it and only went for it based on a post on the
Betfair forum, mainly reiterating the main points of reality TV betting - and the Marti Pellow effect(like you say similar to the Russel Watson one.) She was the worst singer of the 3 remaining but the least black/foreign. Its difficult to put it down to racism, but there must be something in the voting public which makes them(subconsiously) like particular minorities less.
Anyway, as for SS, sure you can solve it Stereo - when we look back at this after the show I firmly believe we'll be baffled as to why Leon was favourite. I'll say it again - black, non ITV, not known...whether he's the best or not we've been here time and time and time again. If Colin Jackson, one of the most well liked, clean cut black celebrities in the UK, couldn't win Strictly Come Dancing then I don't see why some Jonny no-name from a show that airs near midnight on channel 4 will be the one to buck the trend on primetime ITV. If he does then I'm fucked.
Tupele or Verity(whichever survives) has little support and look to have no chance.
Dr Karls voice is average at best and he's not the class act he was expected to be. Mark Furze will get loads of the young female vote and could sneak into the top 4...but in order to win he'll probably need more than that and his voice isn't good enough to nick enough.
Hollyoaks fans will vote for Gemma but there's not enough of them to allow her to last much longer.
IMO, the only possible winners of this show, or atleast the only acts that should be threatening the short odds are Leon, Hayley and Antony.
Leon for the reasons I've been trumpeting on about should be 5s at best, Antony has decent support but his voice is questionable and fairly dull. If I can get him at 7s or 8s I'll be happy but don't think he should be shorter than 6.00 or so.
And then Hayley - decent voice, ITV character in a big soap, well liked character, and just as important she's smiley and chirpy and that will rub off on the public. When it comes down to it the wishy washy public who tune in to hear wishy washy Westlife love ballads will vote for people who they think are 'nice' and I think we'll finally see her into favouritism tonight on
Betfair.
