Call me cynical but one can suggest that those who vote for BBC1 reality TV contests are inherently racist!

On the other hand you can point out that somebody like Marti Pellow much like Russell Watson last year was always going to get the housewives' vote.

I was following Just The Two of Us elsewhere and was very annoyed to find that I could have gotten 7/1 on the night for Hannah/Marti to win. Over at Stan James betting in-running this had shot down to 11/2 and then 7/2 which suggested somebody knew something.

I don't know who the producers of Soapstar Superstar are rigging it for but Hayley? Second favourite?

I can't solve this puzzle.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

Or you could have got 10s on them on Betfair like I did

Not gonna claim any credit for it as I haven't watched a minute of it and only went for it based on a post on the Betfair forum, mainly reiterating the main points of reality TV betting - and the Marti Pellow effect(like you say similar to the Russel Watson one.) She was the worst singer of the 3 remaining but the least black/foreign. Its difficult to put it down to racism, but there must be something in the voting public which makes them(subconsiously) like particular minorities less.

Anyway, as for SS, sure you can solve it Stereo - when we look back at this after the show I firmly believe we'll be baffled as to why Leon was favourite. I'll say it again - black, non ITV, not known...whether he's the best or not we've been here time and time and time again. If Colin Jackson, one of the most well liked, clean cut black celebrities in the UK, couldn't win Strictly Come Dancing then I don't see why some Jonny no-name from a show that airs near midnight on channel 4 will be the one to buck the trend on primetime ITV. If he does then I'm fucked.

Tupele or Verity(whichever survives) has little support and look to have no chance.

Dr Karls voice is average at best and he's not the class act he was expected to be. Mark Furze will get loads of the young female vote and could sneak into the top 4...but in order to win he'll probably need more than that and his voice isn't good enough to nick enough.

Hollyoaks fans will vote for Gemma but there's not enough of them to allow her to last much longer.

IMO, the only possible winners of this show, or atleast the only acts that should be threatening the short odds are Leon, Hayley and Antony.

Leon for the reasons I've been trumpeting on about should be 5s at best, Antony has decent support but his voice is questionable and fairly dull. If I can get him at 7s or 8s I'll be happy but don't think he should be shorter than 6.00 or so.

And then Hayley - decent voice, ITV character in a big soap, well liked character, and just as important she's smiley and chirpy and that will rub off on the public. When it comes down to it the wishy washy public who tune in to hear wishy washy Westlife love ballads will vote for people who they think are 'nice' and I think we'll finally see her into favouritism tonight on Betfair.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

Verity gone. Tupele will probably get the sympathy vote for tonight then and survive, which means theres a real possibility of losing one of the main contenders.

Bingo! Hayleys boyfriend to propose if she wins...just wait for the producers to ham that one up on finals night.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

I'm in knee deep Kop...luckily all the odds movements have gone the right way(apart from Wolfenden) and my worries over a loss of a hefty hefty sum if Leon wins might be put to rest as early as tomorrow...then its onto the others to bring home varying levels of profit, right up to virtually my single biggest bet profit (ever) if Hayley or Antony take it, and its looking good.

Back to a fresh pair of eyes on the odds as they stand...realistically we're down to two possible winners...Antony and Hayley, and it might be worth covering I think Kop if you havent done so already.

Corrie is a lot bigger than Emmerdale and Antony is the best known soapie on here. He's not as good as Hayley but as mentioned singing talent isn't the most important here. I still think Hayley will win but Antony at 5s looks the value at the moment and I don't think we'll see that price again this series.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

Gemma Atkinson out to 20/1. Well this story won't help as all it does is make me hate Cristiano Ronaldo even more.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,4-2007010231,00.html

6/5 for Hayley to win!? Ding dang diddly WHAT!? As you say there's surely a twist in the tail ahead and the marriage proposal could merely be a red herring.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

And indeed the 5s do disappear for Antony into a best of around 4.2 just now.

These two should be the final pair and if so Hayley should be fav going into the final show, but not by too much, maybe 1.70 ish or so. I've made Antony my biggest profit for now as I expect him to continue to come in towards 3.5s or so tonight.

Whatever happens, Leon getting punted would help a lot tonight, but Gemma going is a good 2nd prize.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

Here we go again...Antony's odds continue to drop. Can't see any further opportunities at the moment but things should be clearer once someone gets booted off.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

Right then...if Gemma is allowed to save someone she'll save Furze so whatever happens if you can get Furze at 8s or so he'll be lower by the end of the show.

Antony's version of Copacabana should go down well.

Whatever happens, greening yourself up on Furze, Antony and Hayley should pay dividends at the mo as all will be shorter later on this week.

Re: Soapstar Superstar

There's gonna be a 'surprise' tonight apparently...yuck. A new entrant, Leon back, unlikely but I'm a bit scared nonetheless.
