Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

It's back on Saturday night tied up with all that Comic Relief bollocks.

Last time, the bookies were given a hiding by those in the know who rigged it for Edith Bowman to win (particularly by one Chris Evans who placed £1,000 on her to win at 16/1! ).

The 13 contestants this time around are:

* Angellica Bell
* Mel Giedroyc
* Miranda Hart
* Fred MacAuley
* Colin Murray
* Tara Palmer-Tomkinson
* Tricia Penrose
* Rowland Rivron
* Linda Robson
* Zoe Salmon
* Ray Stubbs
* Tim Vine and
* Shaun Williamson

I wonder who the bookies will make favourite!?

Boringly, I'll do their job for them. Tricia Penrose will probably be made favourite followed by Colin Murray and Angellica Bell. Ray Stubbs and Shaun Williamson could be 'surprises' in that they could stay in the contest despite being crap (Adrian Edmondson finished third in the second edition! Ruby Wax finished second in the first edition!) but they surely won't win!?

Maybe it's because I'm an old git in my thirties as I only recognise about 3 'celebrity' names there...

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

Paddy Power has prices out but I don't agree with who's fronting the market at all:

3/1 Shaun Williamson
10/3 Tricia Penrose
9/1 Mel Giedroyc
9/1 Zoe Salmon
9/1 Colin Murray
10/1 Linda Robson
10/1 Rowland Rivron
10/1 Ray Stubbs
12/1 Tim Vine
12/1 Angelica Bell
14/1 Fred McAulay
16/1 Tara Palmer Tomkinson
16/1 Miranda Hart

Williamson is a very, very good singer.

...and it looks like punters think that voters will go for him as they move Shaun into being 9/4 favourite. The only other market mover is Colin Murray who's moved from 10/1 into 17/2 third favourite.

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

Hmmm...Not convinced on those Williamson odds. Good singer or not the Ruby Wax/Adrian Edmonson history shows that being the fun act will take you far in this show...it takes you far in any reality show but given that this is comic relief it guarantees a high finish here.

If he's by far and away the best singer then he prob should be fave, but given the size of the field and the other factors involved it looks too short.

Penrose shouldn't be that short either - regardless of how good she is I doubt she can win this - she has neither the BBC factor nor the fun factor and singing alone never wins you these contests.

Value for me at the moment is on Murray @ 10/1 - as Edith Bowman/Chris Moyles have shown on various singing shows the Radio 1 thing guarantees consistently high levels of votes(Moyles lost but was on ITV) - regardless of talent if Murray hams up the entertainment no amount of good singing will shift him.

Anyway I doubt he'll be that long again and i'll be on pre show.

Rowland Rivron too will ham it up - prob not a potential winner but will stick around for a long while. Plenty money to be made on the evictions I think.

Bettingzone are tipping Shaun Williamson as the main bet and Zoe Salmon as their value bet.

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

WOW!! Stan James has seen action for Zoe Salmon and make her an industry worst price of 6/1!
Miranda Hart is also an industry worst price of 9/1! What does SJ know!?

Tried putting £40 on at 14/1 on Colin Murray. They allowed me £14.

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

Don't think so trick.

I'll be taking Bettingzone's Chris Hammer's thoughts with a pinch of salt after he tipped Alan Fletcher at 7/4 for Soapstar Superstar - he seems to have a good knack of pointing out why someone is favourite and using that as a basis for a bet, rather than picking out a price that's too big. Nay mind I guess we'll find out but I aint convinced again.

Murray at 14/1! Holy hell thats good. At the very very worst he's be absolutely woeful but will still survive long enough to allow laying off for no damage.

Zoe Salmon is dull as dishwater really - got BBC 1 factor tho so maybe a fair price.

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

Bet365 has a market up for first elimination. Almost pot luck with these things.

I think Tim Vine, Fred MacAuley and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson could be eliminated tonight based on absolutely nothing but pre-conceived ideas.

Re: Celebrity Fame Academy! (Series Three!)

Shaun less than 2/1 as well? Gonna be a battle of who the ahem, 'public' wants more.

OT: Was it a combined Radio 1/Scottish SMS vote that enabled Edith Bowman to beat an ex-EastEnder Kim Metcalf last time 'round? it might very well have been the case.

Gawd knows if history will repeat itself.

Those are the three with no particular fanbase (voting wise)to speak of...maybe add in Miranda Hart too. Murmurs of Vine having some sort of singing talent...add in the comedy/'entertainment' factor(for the 3 comedians), the Scottish factor for MacAuley(he is well known up here and quite well liked as far as I know)...and you're left with TPT sticking out like a sore thumb.

Could be tempted with a bet there.
