Re: Mercury Music Prize - 30th Sep

Well I've put a 'saver' bet of £35 on at 10/1 on Antony and the Johnsons over at Bet Direct.

William Hill have moved them down to 11/2 whilst others still have them at between 7s and 9s. 'Late' money, I presume has forced the price movement but I am hearing some positive press for them as well.

Watch out for the late rumours. I don't know if I've walked into a complete red herring (usually through hype and I might have fallen for it) and that it was always gonna be the fupping Kaiser Chiefs who'll win it.

....£85 says the Kaiser Chiefs don't.

TUESDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER

WOW!! Kaiser Chiefs are into a top priced 7/4 with Sporting Bet whilst the likes of Stan James and Bet Direct go a piffling 11/10.

I will be thoroughly disappointed with just two days to go if it really is gonna be the Kaiser Chiefs who wins it but even Franz Ferdinand didn't foce such a price movement (I think they went as low as 7/4 but that was it).

....you pays your money and you take your choice and I still choose to oppose the fupping Kaiser Chiefs (I'm gonna look a right nana aren't I, come Wednesday night? The fooking judges have put money on the Kaiser Chiefs. ).

Re: Mercury Music Prize - 30th Sep

I think I'm gonna throw the towel in early on this one. I don't think I can win.

If you look at Betfair, the sharpest mover in the past 24 hours or so has been The Go! Team who have plunged all the way to less than 6/1.

Now I'm being a cnut but Paddy's were the first to move their odds over three weeks ago down to 10/1 when everyone else went 14s and 16s on The Go! Team.

....it's a nice enough album, only 40 minutes or so long though and Ladyflash is a good dance tune but compared to the rest of the nominees? HELL NO!!

A bit of controversy in the works I suppose and the biggest 'surprise' winner since M People winning and if they do indeed win, I'll just shake my head with frustration.

Stan James and Bet Direct I think are the only bookies still running a market.

....I think I'll need some paracetamol after Tuesday night.

Re: Mercury Music Prize - TONIGHT!!!!

I would try and hedge my bets and have another nominee as a back-up probably Antony and the Johnsons. Betting has gone absolutely nutso in the last six hours or so and it's still effectively everybody's game

Stan James still have prices up:

Re: Mercury Music Prize - TONIGHT!!!!

Well this time the late, late, LATE money proved absolutely spot on as Antony and the Johnsons won. I'm happy I put my 'saver' bet on (Colin Murray is also very happy as he's probably just won £200 or so after putting a piffling £20 on them as is Mark Chapman (BBC Radio 1 News sports reporter) from the Scott Mills show who's been tipping them for over two weeks when pressed about it).

....sometimes you can see patterns in the odds movement and this time I got really, really lucky.

Expect some slight controversy over whether or not AatJ are british in the papers tomorrow or Thursday.

Who won the Popjustice award thingy?

Girls Aloud beat off Rachel Stevens (FNAR!!):

12th: Uniting Nations (eliminated by text vote)
11th: Robbie Williams (eliminated by group vote)
10th: Shapeshifters (beaten by Girls Aloud)
9th: Verbalicious (eliminated via semi-secret ballot)
8th: Charlotte Church (eliminated by all the smokers - reinstated before the final, then voted out again)
7th: Kaiser Chiefs (beaten by Girls Aloud)
6th: Goldfrapp (beaten by Rachel Stevens)
5th: Mylo (beaten by Basement Jaxx)
4th: The 411 (least suitable song for a funeral)
3rd: Basement Jaxx (eliminated via secret ballot - least votes to stay in)
2nd: Rachel Stevens
1st: Girls Aloud

I'm glad I didn't punt on this and Blue SQ probably got completely mugged by Popjustice.
