After reading some good write ups and info in the Bet Help threads I thought it was about time I took notice and got myself a plan and some rules for the coming season. I’ll be doing seven different types of bet, as listed below. I’ll be logging the bets on eight different spreadsheets, seven for the individual bet types and one for overall.

I don’t have a very big betting bank to start but I’ll be logging results as..

Profit/Loss

I’ll be posting in the relevant threads still but all bets placed and results will be logged in here.

The bookies/exchange I’ll be using are as follows….
Bet Direct, Betfair, Betfred, Bet365, Blue Square, Corals, Ladbrokes, Premierbet, Skybet, Sportingodds and Stan James.


Bet type 1 - Football - The Big Odds On

I’ll be looking for single bets on teams that look value at odds of between 1.25 and 1.50 only, (I can take a better price than 1.50 providing one of the other mentioned bookies/exchange has the team priced up @ 1.50)

Bet unit = £10.00


Bet type 2 - Football - A Daily Punt shout

From the various Football Threads I’ll be looking for 3 teams max from the Weekend Coupon and 2 teams max from the Midweek Coupon, level stakes, picked by fellow members of TDP
I’ll name the source of the bet but no worries if it fails, I’m fully aware that even when we are confident the bet can still lose

Bet unit = £5.00


Bet type 3 - Football - My shout

I’ll be looking for 3 teams max from the Weekend Coupon and 2 teams max from the Midweek Coupon, level stakes, my shout.

Bet unit = £5.00


Bet type 4 - Football - The Live Game Correct Score

A bet for interest. I’ll only play this one if I have nothing else on the game, 3 x £2 correct scores.

Bet stake = £6.00


Bet type 5 - All Sports - The Big Monthly

The only rule here is one bet per month, any price, any sport, a bet placed with high confidence and at what I believe as value odds. Patience is the key

Bet unit = £25.00


Bet type 6 - NFL - The Accy

I know very little about this sport but I’ve a mate at work who’s well into it and we’re going to be doing a rolling one team a week accy for 7 weeks around September/October time based on his predictions.

One off Bet stake = £5.00


Bet type 7 - Horses - Betfair

A very Maximum of one bet per week, I love playing the horses but the years have proved I’m not very successful at it One race per week max with £10 spread on two, three or four horses to win or place.

Bet unit = £10.00


Well I think that’s about it for now, as in the film some of the seven didn’t make it to the end and I don’t expect some of these to either I’ll drop any that are to damaging to the bank but I’ll see how it goes for now.

Looks interesting Kop and it will be good to see how the relative types of bet perform(my prediction will be 2,3,5,1,7,6,4).

One point i would raise would be to consider allowing your range for the big odds on shots to be simply 1.50 and under. Of course its fairly tricky(or virtually impossible) to calculate where a 1.05 shot should be 1.10, which might be why you've chosen to omit 1.25 and under, but it could be worth running that part of your spreadsheet based on Favourite Long Shot principles which suggests that most of the time there is value on the very short priced sides.

If you check out this thread http://www.thedailypunt.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5295:

you can see that going for the 1.25 and below shots returns a fairly steady 4-5% yield. So as I say, at worst I think it would be worthwhile extending your selection to 1.50 and below, but just my suggestion.

Thanks for your thoughts Beanie and i'll go ahead with what you say about taking 1.50 and Under, this will allow me to back teams in running too now which i hadn't given thought about All bets must remain as single bets though.

So a slight change to bet type 1, as i can't edit my first post it should now read...

I think you've been very kind suggesting bet type 3 will do second best
I think/hope bet types 2 and 5 come out tops.
