Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags
Fucking hell, this story still drags on. Without the wolfman and the action surrounding his transfer, would the press have had anything to talk about at all this summer?
The latest installment:
Quote:
West Ham have told Carlos Tevez's agent he can have him for £6m - the minimum the Premier League will allow the club to be paid for his registration. But Joorabchian looks set to go ahead with his High Court action. That could wreck Manchester United's chances of signing the striker before the transfer window shuts on 31 August. (The Sun)
Joorabchian has offered only £100,000 to West Ham because he is so confident of winning a court case. (Daily Star)

The problem is that Glazer's business plan revolves around squeezing every penny out of Utd through redundancies (already happened), prices going up (already happened) and his backroom accounts fiddling. We are just a franchise to him - they've said it already and his complete lack of care about the actuall club and support was summed up when they announced the buyout on the Munich anniversary. They've no idea about our history and to be frank, don't care. We're just another McDonalds to them. And until the tosser's gone, United won't see another penny of my money. After 20 years, I've become an armchair supporter - something I never thought I'd be.

MUFC SEASON TICKET WAITING LIST DISAPPEARS IN A PUFF OF GLAZER SPIN
Friday 27th July was the deadline imposed by Manchester United on season
ticket (ST) holders who have refused to sign up to the Glazers' compulsory
Automatic Cup Scheme (ACS) on top of hugely inflated ST prices for next
season. Many of those who haven't joined the ACS feel that the company
(Manchester United Limited) that owns our Football Club is attempting to
intimidate them into signing up by threatening to refund their ST purchases
if they don't cave in to pressure before the outcome of a court case
testing the legality of the compulsory scheme.
Meanwhile, significantly, and perhaps unnoticed amid the distractions of
Tevez affair and the pending ACS court case, the fabled Manchester United
ST Waiting List - much trumpeted by the Glazers since their arrival - has
been exposed as a crumbling facade. Having boasted of anything between a
13,000 and 18,000 strong ST waiting list it now turns out that the actual
number is.... ZERO. Seaon Tickets failed to sell out in the first round of
renewals/new sales and despite the supposed huge waiting list incredibly
they have gone on open sale (for at least 13 days & counting) on the
club's website!
Judging by the comments on internet discussion forums most United
supporters felt the 18,000 strong waiting list was a laughable fabrication
being used as a cynical attempt to manipulate the ticket market and now the
truth has been exposed.
Without doubt United will shortly announce record season ticket sales
followed by a total sell-out. However that is a tribute to the fantastic
loyalty of United supporters which is now being tested to breaking point,
threatening to destroy almost 130 years of dedicated support often passed
down through generations. It seems incredible that what was once a golden
ticket often lovingly passed from grandparent to parent to child is now on
open sale to anybody prepared to stump up the huge sums required to buy
both the Season Ticket and membership of the much reviled compulsory ACS
(dubbed the Glazer Poll Tax by disgruntled Reds). So desperate have the
Glazers become that, forget past loyalty, forget waiting lists, anyone can
have one - you don't even need to have ever set foot inside Old Trafford in
your life!
|
Lifted this off a mate on another site.
How many Champions have been unable to sell all of their season tickets the following season? And more to the point, even when we were shit, we still had a waiting list!
Sums it all up really!

Problem is his business plan is based on continued success. We have a couple of poor seasons, we go bust. The interest on his loans was already calculated to be more than our nett profit when he bought us out.

I'm confused. So the writer is saying that there really aren't a load of people out there waiting to buy tickets but then goes on to say that the tickets will sell before the season starts. I'm not sure if the waiting list ever existed in the numbers quoted or not but if the Glazers can increase the capacity, increase the prices and still fill it then they don't have a problem.
Fans can post what they like on internet forums but they're still daft enough to turn up this year and next year when the prices go up again

What he's referring to is that the 'loyal hardcore' fan, like myself, are slowly but surely being priced out of OT and drifting away (to some degree) and this recent issue is the first time that the 'season ticket hardcore' has not wanted all of its season tickets. United will always sell its season tickets, just this time, the prawn sandwich brigade are going to be able to get one without having ever set foot in OT before. Normally, the things are like gold dust - I know lads who've waited 10-15 years for one. Now they're on general sale!
And that's the whole point - Glazer is not interested in the football supporter or the fella that has been going to OT for the last 20 years. He just wants the supporter who has the most money. Understandable from a financial point of view but proves that he's completely missed the point about what football is really about. And really backs up the anti-Glazer feeling that has always existed - he couldn't give a toss about sentiment or loyalty, just money from his franchise.
Our hardcore away support is one of the best for noise and atmosphere but OT will just get quieter and quieter..............

Show me a business man that isnt concerned with that.
I think football is heading very much in the wrong direction. Or to put it another way, football is heading off in a direction that I'm less and less interested in. Money money money.
I purchased Setanta for the Ricky Hatton fight and have since decided to keep it. With Setanta you get NASN and I have got back in to my baseball again. Great stuff it is too. Anyway, on the baseball the other night there was an advert for tickets for the next night's play and the tickets were being advertised at $20 a piece. Liverpool's are among the cheapest match day tickets around and still our's cost around $65 (£32). God knows what they will be like when we move to the new stadium. Hicks and Gilette have listened to the fans and tried (thus far) to keep us "on side". This they have achieved.
However they are business men and I imagine at some point they will have to take a Glazer-esque view of the club and the fans and start scamming the fuck out of us to make their money back.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags
Mmmmm
And in a statement to be released to the City tomorrow, the Trust claim: - The club's interest payments have INCREASED by a staggering £28m this year.
- The Glazer family have passed on rising costs by HIKING ticket prices by nearly 50 per cent.
- Some fans are taking LEGAL action.
- Other supporters have been FORCED to give up their season tickets.
Owner Malcolm Glazer seems to have sunk the Red Devils so deeply into the red following his £790m takeover in 2005 that even leading City financiers believe his only lifeline is to sell up.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags
This was inevitable I'm afraid Winrew.
Did you know there's a section of the OT faithful that hate the FC United mob and regard them as traitors. Maybe they should open their bloody eyes instead of ignoring what has been happening over the last couple of years. This was all forecast when he 'bought' the club and is slowly becoming reality. It shouldn't be a shock to anyone.
This news has been on the cards since he plunged us into debt by borrowing off every tom, dick and harry to buy us out. I still find it bizarre that a cash-rich club can be bought out on borrowed funds and now be in a situation where the club owes the money and be heavily in debt. In effect, United have bought themselves by borrowing money off a third party...and all with the fat yank's name at the top of the bill.
Glazer's a fucking wanker I tell ya. I love my club and that will never change but until he goes, I'll continue to boycott the place and be an armchair supporter. Let the prawn sandwich mob pay the ever-increasing bills coz he's getting none of my money.
I can't justify the cost of my season ticket, travel, programme, beer, pie, etc anymore and with the loyalty I'm sure we all have to our different clubs, that was a horrible reality to have to face up to.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags
Bloody mental to me.
One bad season ( short run in Europe , or no domestic glory ) could start a scenario where they have to sell sell sell , they could be the next Leeds.
One point i didnt realise was that the transfer cash didnt come for the Yanks , that was also borrowed.
