Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

From the BBC:

Quote:
Man Utd close in on striker Tevez

Tevez played a big part in keeping West Ham in the Premiership last season
West Ham striker Carlos Tevez is set to join Manchester United, according to BBC Five Live Sport.
BBC sports editor Mihir Bose understands talks are under way and Tevez may move on loan or permanently.

Tevez, 23, is currently on international duty with Argentina in the Copa America in Venezuela.

West Ham have said they want to keep him after he helped them survive in the Premier League last season but doubts have remained over his Hammers future.

"I understand talks have been going on for several weeks now," added Bose.

"Manchester United are certainly very keen on Carlos Tevez but they are very complicated talks because of the nature of the loan arrangement he has at West Ham.

606: DEBATE
Your thoughts on the news about Tevez and Man Utd

"What is going on is whether he goes on a permanent move, which would involve a very high fee. Certainly, Tevez's people would want in the region of what Zinedine Zidane went for when he moved to Real Madrid - about £40m.

"Or he could go on the same arrangement his colleague Javier Mascherano went to Liverpool under when he left West Ham. That was a two-year deal and a sort of extended loan for a much lower fee."

There was much controversy over the signing of Tevez and that of fellow Argentine Javier Mascherano by the Upton Park club last summer.

West Ham were fined £5.5m for irregularities that centred on who owned the players' contracts but Sheffield United, who were relegated from the Premiership in the 2006-2007 campaign, believe the London club should have been docked points.

An arbitration panel this week upheld a decision not to deduct points from the Hammers but the Blades are investigating whether they can appeal to the civil courts.

All through the saga, Tevez has focused solely on his game.

At the end of last season he inspired the Hammers to a run of form that lifted the club out of the bottom three and clinched their top-flight status.

Man Utd coach Ferguson has had a busy summer in the transfer market

When Tevez first arrived at Upton Park he found games hard to come by under the then West Ham boss Alan Pardew but he was given a more prominent role after Alan Curbishley took the helm in December 2006.

Last season Tevez scored seven goals in his final 10 Premier League games, including the winner at Manchester United that guaranteed West Ham's survival.

He was expected to delay a decision over his future until after the Copa America finishes on 14 July but United appear to be keen to tie up a deal for the player.

Arsenal and Liverpool were also linked with Tevez, who turned down a move to Italian side Inter Milan after failing to meet a deadline they set for him to make a decision about whether to join them.

If Tevez did sign for United he would join the Old Trafford outfit's other summer recruits in England midfielder Owen Hargreaves, Portugal winger Nani, Brazilian midfielder Anderson and keeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Darren Bent £16.5 Million...Tevez £20 million.

Thats a bargain for Man Utd imo. A player who can single handedly keep a club up with shite around him. Will be menacing and even better at United.

Jesus, can you imagine the side they can have in the next few seasons...

Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney, Anderson and the other winger they got in. Some serious attacking threat there.

I can actually see United end up playing with out an out and out striker and it seems the only way they can play really is they are to accomodate these players.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

I am dubious about bigging up big-name foreign signings I havent seen before. Anderson is highly rated and cost a few quid. So was Veron, Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson, Rebrov etc etc etc

However with Tevez you have a little pitbull that you know will deliver the goods. End of story.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Interesting one, the Tevez saga rumbles on!

Apparently the FA wont sanction the deal and they have urged West Ham to act in the same manner. So then, West Ham hold the player's registration but dont actually 'own' the player. United want to buy him and he wants to move. But if West Ham say no, then it's NO DEAL.

Quote:
Manchester United may be further frustrated in their attempts to unravel the complicated transfer saga involving West Ham striker Carlos Tevez.
BBC Radio Five Live understands Tevez, 23, and his management team wrote to the Premier League and West Ham asking them to terminate his Hammers contract.

The Premier League refused and has suggested West Ham do the same.

If Fifa or the Football Association cannot help manufacture a breakthrough, the matter could end up in the courts.

Tevez's proposed move to Old Trafford has been put on hold after the Premier League ruled West Ham must receive the vast majority of the reported £30m-plus fee.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

yeah its great we have all these players and all that bullshit of its a squad game now and all that, but still where the fook are they supposed to play you can only play 11 and max 6 attackers we have too many players that will cause unhappiness and thats what happened at chelsea and they didnt win the league last year and as for tevez great player but similar to rooney with the pitbull style.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

This made me chuckle when I read it today:

Quote:
Manchester United chief executive David Gill said the club's attempt to sign Carlos Tevez is "over-complicated".
The deal stalled as the Premier League said it must be done between United and West Ham but not Kia Joorabchian, who owns the 23-year-old's economic rights.

"It's become over-complicated," said Gill. "Effectively, we are trying to work with four parties.
Did he genuinely expect it to be anything other than complicated?

The footballing world knew this transfer would be a big mess, yet no one told David Gill

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Scumbags! He's coming to United isn't he?

I think it's a great signing for us and completes what's been a great summer (rainy season) of bringing in new players. I think it's fair to say we were the best attacking team last year and with 3 fantastic new attacking options plus Hargreaves to do the old Keano role, I'm well happy with the way things are looking.

Still not sure where the Glazers are getting the dosh from but that's another story..........

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Agreed Wayne. So long as you get all the contractual bollocks out of the way, he's a great signing. And on face value, £20m is a value price as well for him. If you own him outright for that, then you're laughing because I think he is on a par (if not better) than Torres.

As a United fan, I would be concerned as to whether you actually own him and also what future kickbacks does that Joorabchian bloke get from the deal? Same with Mascherano, apparently we dont actually own the lad after all. He's on loan from MSI til the end of this year and we get first refusal.

Cracking players but they come with lots of baggage.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Stll following this one with much amusement. It emerged yesterday that FIFA would be asked to rule on the transfer. Firstly, they would have to decide whether or not it was within their remit do do so. That will take a week or so. Then FIFA hear both West Ham's case and Tevez's case and decide whether or not the Hammers can stop Tevez from moving. Basically it is up to FIFA to decide who owns the player and what the best way forward is.

That wont come quickly and the loser can appeal to the court of arbitration, based in Lausanne I think.

In a nutshell, I wuldnt expect Tevez to sign for Man United before the August deadline. In the news today, more bits and bobs from Carlitos' camp - apparently West Ham arent playing ball.

Quote:
Carlos Tevez's adviser has criticised West Ham's conduct over the Argentine's proposed transfer to Manchester United.

The striker's move to Old Trafford is in danger of breaking down because the two clubs cannot agree a way forward.

Now Kia Joorabchian has decided to hit out, accusing the Hammers of making "promises and assurances, which they have not acted upon or performed".

Like to disagree with you but I can't.

After 20 years of watching United, I gave up my season ticket and haven't been since Glazer took over.

Don't want to get into that rant again so I'm going to stop now.

Re: Tevez to join the Scumbags

Its starting to get silly now .......

Carlos Tevez's representative Kia Joorabchian has begun legal proceedings against West Ham over the striker's proposed move to Manchester United.

Lawyers acting for Joorabchian's companies MSI and Just Sports Inc have issued West Ham with a High Court writ.
The companies and Joorabchian claim they own the economic rights to the 23-year-old Argentine - but that is disputed by West Ham.
Tevez's move to United has stalled over who will be paid the £30m transfer fee.
"I can confirm the companies have begun High Court proceedings against West Ham," said Teacher Stern Selby solicitor Graham Shear, the law firm representing MSI and Just Sports Inc.
The statement continued: "A High Court writ was served on the football club's solicitors.
"The Companies seek the court's intervention to compel West Ham to release the registration of Carlos Tevez in accordance with contracts entered into between the parties. "We are asking the court to intervene so that Tevez can be registered to play with Manchester United as soon as possible.
