Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

why did he field a weakend team again last nite when he had a great chance against a weakend chelsea team,i think the silence from the liverpool fans on here says it all,how long are you going to keep faith with this man,the carling cup has gone the league is slipping away and its all down to rafael benitez,i think some fans are starting to see through him now,as for coach of the year your having a laugh.

Winning the Carling Cup is not going to be enough to keep him in a job and equally losing it will not get him sacked.

And as for the silence from the Liverpool fans on here, there's only 2 of us mate and we're both fully in support of him.

not many comments about getting rid of Rafa must say something . with the clubs needing to make as much money as possible , the champions league is the main trophy / competition to aim for , for me a top 4 finish is all that is required in the prem every season , if liverpool are in with a shout of winning it great but for me its top 4.

Complete bollox Andee. Stephen Hawking could have scored that fucker. No challenge whatsoever.

I don't know if you noticed the booing for the second Liverpool goal but that was because a Derby player had been blatently fouled about 45 seconds before it when on the attack. Why the BBC chose not to show it, I've no idea. I'm sure if it had been one of the big clubs they would have spent 5 minutes disecting it.

Torres is class, without doubt but my gran could have scored that. I was at the game and as much as I rate Alonso and Riese, they were both absolutely fucking garbage and don't let anyone else tell you differenly.

Don't get me wrong, Derby were garbage too but if Liverpool fans think that they are going to finish in the top two (despite Arsenal's draw) just get yourself on betfair cos I'll lay it all day at 3.55 cos it's just never going to happen.

Good cup side but not good enough I'm afraid.

Another Stevie G wank off day over his performance. As i keep saying he always delivers these performances against the poor sides.

I am still waiting to see him CONSISTENLY do it in the big big games against the big teams rather than maybe 1 good performance every 10

Yeah, I get the feeling that, had Derby managed a draw, the hacks would be writing about a lacklustre performance from Gerard. Amazing what a difference a goal makes.

What makes it eeeeeeeevvvven more frustrating for me is that I've backed Torres for top Prem goalscorer and the keeper makes a blinding save from his shot, only for some fucker else to bang it in the net

Thats the nature of human beings though Kiko.

Everybody has good days and bad days. Footballers are no different. Having an off day against Derby in December counts for fuck all, if we win something at the end of the season.

Will anyone care that United were average (at best) for in excess of 80 minutes yesterday, if they go on and lift the cup? No of course they wont.

Name me one footballer that is onsistantly brilliant, in every match he plays and never has off days?

theyre able to win games in the final 10mins , liverpool seem to start panicking after 70 if they need to score goals.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Liverpool dont have enough good players that can win games.

Yossi is an average player picked up for an average fee - as such he will do the business 1 game in 5 probably.

Babel is inexperienced and probably hasnt found his role yet - looked good in spurts but again the consistacy isnt there.

Crouch didnt get the service and never will with the above 2 on the wings. They are not wingers.

Kuyt works hard. If hard work and commitment is all that it takes to play for Liverpool these days, then maybe I do stand a chance of getting signed up.

Voronin isnt a bad player. Is he suited to dropping out wide? In my opinion no. Does he have the craft and know-how to drop deep like Beardsley and pick a pass? In my opinion no.

Torres will win us games.

Gerrard will win us games.

But I dont think its realistic to rely on those 2 players to win games for us. Today apart, we have relied on Gerrard and Torres to magic something and create something from nothing. When they are out of the team, we look solid at the back but average in the final third.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

My opinion on the whole, is that good teams have lots of match winners who can influence a game when needed. They dont rely on 1 or 2 players.

Until we spend money on match winners and strength in depth on a par with Man United, Chelsea etc - it is unrealistic to expect us to achieve what they do, with the consistancy they achieve it.

I agree with most of what you say mate but from what I've seen of Voronin, I think he may have more to offer than we've seen thus far and I think he just could be the type of player to drop deep and create for players coming from deep.

I also think he puts a lot of work in which may be detrimental to his all round game as he may be wiser to keep a little back in the locker for when he needs it instead of running around like an idiot at times.

I think he's at Liverpool for the long term and he'll just keep getting better.
