You're missing the point though mate. If a team like Villa can suddenly decide to actack for ten minutes and score twice then you want to be thankfull that teams are sitting back and not attacking, otherwise God knows how many goals you would concede.

liverpools problem is `not taking the chances they make` plain and simple. whenever liverpool beat anyone like in the champs league game against besiskas , we get the old `they were shite` comments but when other teams do it theyre world beaters .
why was jimmy saville doing the draw yesterday , he sure fixed it for us

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
A few interesting snippets here with regards to our club. I've been saying for a while that we cant compete financially with our nearest and dearest and realistically - we are in a battle for fourth place if we're honest. Here's the latest bit of proof that shows how far back we have fallen and I only expect that gap to grow.
Arsenal turnover
2006/07 - £200.8m (1st season at Emirates!)
2005/06 - £132.112(Million)
2004/05 -115.075
2003/04 - 115.056
Liverpool Turnover
2005/06 - £119.499(Million)
2004/05 - 121.054
2003/04 - 92.576
Man Utd Turnover
2006/07 - £245m
2005/06 - 105.925
2004/05 - 107.561
2003/04* - 169.080
* = Manchester United plc
Chelsea Turnover
2005/06 - 130.410
2004/05 - 122.657
2003/04 - 118.032
Based on the above, its hard to see how we're going to compete with the other big players in the Premiership isnt it. And it only gets worse, Manchester United's borrowings are eight times their operating profits, while Arsenal's are four times. A 350m loan will give us borrowing at 11 - 12 times our operating profits for 2007.
Hicks and Gilette have royally fucked out football club and their business model is severely flawed unless they can propose a way to double our turnover, quickly......

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
it realy is a poor performance from liverpool of the park but if you look close they had a higher turnover than man u in 2005/6, is there no results for liverpools 2006/7 turnover, personaly i think liverpools like a drifting ship on and off the park,i think rafas on borrowed time and hicks and gillett are clueless as to run a top football club.

I think we were close to United in the aftermath of Istanbul - increased merchandising and what not. They have had an explosion of growth though in 06/07 - unless they are doing their accounting differently?
We wont have 06/07 results confirmed because the Yanks dont want to declare the books.
Fair enough, their business their rules.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I would also argue this notion that we are a "drifting" team on the pitch.
We are the 4th biggest club in the country and I think we're punching above our weight. We're hitting the heights in Europe and Benitez has outperformed all of his domestic rivals in Europe. He's managed more CL finals in 3 years than Ferguson did in 15 (allowing for the Heisel ban) or Wenger did in 12 years.
We are consistantly hitting 4th place or above come the end of the season - how are we underperforming?
Like I said, some people need to wake up and get real. Bar a major fuck up, there's no way we will be challenging for the title for a long time. We are a Valencia sized club fighting against Barca and Real Madrid.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I presume you watched the game Dave, in order to make such an anlysis?
2 minutes away from getting a 0-0 draw against a team that beat United 4 weeks ago.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I should point out that I do want Liverpool to do well by the way, but they just aren't the quality team that so many people think right now.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
wow , thats 4 draws and a defeat in the last 5 lads, not even a top club amongst those either.
Can he possibly turn it around , the players simply must be affected by all the pressure heaped on their manager who is looking more and more like a dead duck.
I know you's are very loyal to Rafa but look at Spurs and look how popular Jol was, Ramos came in and just freshened stuff up

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Dead right keem. He looks beaten. The players look deflated.
Quite frankly, we're fucked at the moment. Though by having almost limitless faith in Kuyt and Kewell, it gets harder and harder to defend him.
