Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Booked my trip to Milan today. After booking the wrong dates, thanks to UEFA (they moved the game back a week) I am going to London on the Monday, out on the piss down there then Tuesday fly to Milan Linate to arrive about midday and flying back on the Wednesday to Glasgow with Ryanair. Staying in some fucking shit hole in the centre of milan for one night.
That city is mega expensive for hotels and the like.
Andee - are you going out for it at all?

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
So, looking ahead to next season I think we need to shape up and ship out some of the lads that dont do it at the very highest level. In short, I reckon the ins and outs should be as follows:
In: Left Back, Left Winger, Striker
Drenthe isnt having too good a time in Madrid is he? He could be abailable for a reasonable fee apparently. So could Aimar according to reports from Spain probably as a replacement for the owner of the number 14 shirt at the moment. Yep, thats right, Xabi Alonso could be on his way out following his apparent bust up with Gerrard. I would sooner ship out Gerrard myself as I dont think his overall influence on the club is healthy. I also hear that we're after a part ex deal of Xabi and £6mil or so for David 'Long John' Silva - interesting.
I would like Aguerro but to be fair, we wont have a chance. Especially if Athletico make it to the CL this year, the boost in revenues will mean they can keep their bigger players.
Out: Hyypia (hopefully to a coaching position), Kewell, Aurelio, Kuyt, Voronin.
I was close to adding Benayoun to that list. He's a Jewish Luis Garcia and I just dont 'get him' - I dont understand what he does or why we need him in the team really. Same as with Little Luis, I never really understood what he contributed - erm bar vital goals in Cup ties like Chelsea (twice), Juve and Leverkusen. Erm what I mean is, erm erm erm. Fuck it, I dont have to justify myself to you people. You dont even exist.

They would be the players i would look to get rid of also. Unless Crouch gets more time on the field from now till the end of the season i can't see him staying which wouold be a blow.
Drenthe now scored in his last 2 games so maybe getting him isn't as likely as it was a few weeks ago. I haven't been too impressed with him to be honest ad dont think he would add too much tot he Liverpool side at the minute, possibly the future he could.
Terrible result yesterday. CL game is all or nothing now for Benetiz.

Whats his face, the greasy wop in charge of Inter, got a right pasting in the Italian press today n'all. Good piece in the Guardian, basically reporting the story from the Italian press' perspective.
Will post some of the comments on here - they make for Inter-esting reading:
"This is Anfield, but this is not Inter," protests Alberto Cerruti in today's Gazzetta dello Sport. "Passive in the first 30 minutes, penalised for an hour by the harsh sending off of Materazzi and finally pierced in the last five minutes by the one-two strikes from Kuyt and Gerrard. Bitter but fair, because Mancini's team started badly and ended worse. Clinging to the alibi of the numerical disadvantage will not do."
Some other bloke says
"Inter lost themselves in the Anfield atmosphere like a debutant in the Temple of Art," he says. "They didn't play, there wasn't a game, there wasn't a shot, they lacked personality and nerves. A frankly embarrassing effort when compared to the straightforward superiority Inter enjoy over every Italian opponent."
"Liverpool deserved their victory (there was even a missed handball by Vieira in the area)"
Get in!

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I do love football 365, infact I like it as much as I detest Eamon Dunphy. Check out his ramblings from last night on the Liverpool/Inter game:
Having predicted that Inter would win the match, Dunphy proclaimed shortly after the final whistle: "Let's put Liverpools achievement in context: Inter are crap."
Apparently winning Serie A two years running, leisurely strolling it this year and going unbeaten for five months are not good enough to impress Eamonn.
But he didn't stop there. According to Dunphy, the Irish national team that required injury time to beat San Marino, and were spanked 5-2 by Cyprus are better than Inter, and that John O'Shea (at this point you'd be forgiven for thinking we're making it up. We assure you, we're not) would stroll into their side.
He rounded things off quite nicely with a startling lack of knowledge about, well, anything, with the pearler: "Look at Roma. They got beat 7-1 at Old Trafford a few years ago and went on to win Serie A!"
Entertaining stuff. All the more entertaining when you remember that this is the man who accused Roy Keane of being a 'rent-a-quote', 'bullsh**ting' and 'vacuousness'.
