I was talking about the competition in general. Benitez the tactical genius once again had the upper hand. Arsenal worked very hard but bar the Bendtner incident (clearing off the line), they hardly put us under pressure for 90 minutes.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Boooooooooh Hisssss!!!!!!!!!!
Apparently Liverpool dont play the right way and little Cesc doesnt like it!
"They defend very well and at 1-1, I think all they will want to do is defend and try to catch us on the break. We have to stick to our policy of playing football, attacking and trying to create opportunities."
I had no idea that counter attacking football, when you're playing a better team away from home, had been outlawed. Sorry about that Cesc, I'll make sure Rafa and the boys set up our team in a more accomodating manner the next time we play down your neck of the woods. Fucking cunt.
Maybe if you had a bit of Liverpool's grit and mental fortitude, you might not have bottled the league this year.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
From that Fabreags quote where exactly does he say there's anything wrong with Liverpool's style of play?
Nowhere.
All he says is that Liverpool played defensively and Arsenal attacked, an entirely accurate assesment of the match. In fact he actually praised Liverpool "They defend very well" He does not once criticise them.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
It doesnt, this quote does though:
"Just because the other team refuses to play doesn't mean we have to do the same thing. We want to stick to our football and that's what we will do."
Holier than thou Arsenal can fuck right off. Football is about achieving the result you need, with the resources available.

I don't see any criticism in there. Maybe you just think everyone hates Liverpool and have to look for hidden meanings in everything. There is no denying that Liverpool went their with less intention of playing attacking football than Arsenal, and that's all his quotes suggest.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
So saying that Liverpool "refused to play" is in no way a back handed criticism of our team or the style of football we play?
Come on Dave, get real.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I don't deny that it's a comment about the way you play. I agree totally with you that it doesn't matter how you get results, but that doesn't mean his assesment is inaccurate. Arsenal (normally) get results by playing football, Liverpool (normally) get results by stopping other teams playing football.
If both Arsenal and Liverpool learnt a little from each other they would probably challenge for a lot more trophies than they do.

Arent we the highest scorers in English football at the moment? We went through the 100 goal barrier before anyone else this season.
Not bad for a team that doesnt play football.
