Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Season 2008/09
Thought I would draw a line under last year and start a fresh with this one. Although it looks pretty much as if its going to be business as usual next year so you could argue that a line isnt needed. Worryingly, I think our future's anything but bright - the future's mediocre.
Newcastle splashed the cash yesterday and brought in some argie with a fetish for sticking on a gimp mask when he scores. Fuck me, even Citeh spent £18m on a lad called Jo, that’s £9m per letter! Such extravagance we can only dream of. Our last big signing (Mascherano) cost around £12m – which averages out at just £1.2m per letter. We’re in danger of being left behind here boys!!!
On a serious note though, Chelsea have strengthened this summer with Boswinga and Deco and if reports in the press are to be believed, could be after Arse Shaving as well too. United didn’t need to strengthen but are looking at some South American lad who’s scored 30 odd goals for River Plate – the next Madonna/Pele/Ariel Ortega/Romario (delete as applicable) – so yes its looking dark for us.
We have a deal agreed with James Milner (personal terms) but wont meet Newcastle’s valuation.
We have a deal agreed with Gaz Baz (personal terms) but wont meet Aston Villa’s valuation.
I see a trend emerging here – basically lads, we’re skint. And the worst thing is, everyone knows it. So therefore clubs are playing hard ball with us. Juve wont meet our asking price of £16m for Alonso, no one seems to want Pennant/Crouch/Carson for what we’re asking.
They know we’ll have to sell in the end and are making us sweat so the price drops and drop it will – it has to if we’re going to have any money in the coffers to spend.
On the plus side, Insua signed a new deal the other day to keep him at the club til 2011. This lad will be the best left back in the Premiership within 2 years. He will be better than Clichy/Evra (in my opinion the current top 2) and will go on to be Argentina's number 3 for many years. The lad's awesome. Lets hope that he gets a dozen first team appearances this time round because he looked simply too good for the reserves last time round. Maybe rafa's fledglings coming through the ranks is our only real chance of challenging for the title any time soon.

According to this you're after Riera too Premier League - Transfer Talk: Viva España - Yahoo! Eurosport UK
Decent player, but if you've bid 9.5m I'd say that's a bit on the high side. If you go anywhere near the 19m Espanyol are asking then you're being robbed.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Barry, Gerrard, Babel, Mascherano in midfiled, Torres, the Torres that has become one of the most sought after strikers in the world, Kuyt the hardest working player on the pitch in any game he plays.
Skertl, Hypia, Carra and Agger sharing central defence, Aurellio and Arbeloa really coming into their own.
One Pepe Two Pepe Three Pepe Riena in goal, didn't he win the golden glove for most clean sheets last year? He's not been the best in the prem so that award is a tribute to the whole team and the way we play.
With Utd still double dreaming and Chelsea changing things around yet again
we're gonna take it.
We're going to see the new stadium going up across the park, our famous ground doesnt have long left, the fans, the fans will be the 12th and 13th man this season. We're going to be good, real good.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Anybody any idea how much the brand new framed Liverpool shirt, signed by most of the players at the club now, including Gerrard, Torres and even Rafa, would go for at a charity auction?
Seriously
My future son in law surprised my daughter with it Friday morning after going to the event. Jammy bitch.
On another note, as some of you know, i havent seen much of my lad over the past couple of years, he pretty much ignores and wants little to do with me these days. He's 14 now and last season played for Cheltenham Town u16's. I hear he's not on contract or anything but he's been asked to go back next season again.
Anyways, I typed a search of his name in on the net to see if i could see what he's up to earlier and found this video of him, he and his mates are trying to big him up i think it's a bit chav and the footage quality is poor but it's good to see he's got the love for it still.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
That shirt reminds me of a few yrs back when soembody bought my lad a football signed by all the Man U players, i was having a clear out and as he was only 3 or 4 when it was bought him and I thought he won't remember that and threw the fcuker out as i didnt want that shite in my house.
Then out of the blue a yr or so ago he's 19 now, he mentioned to his mates that he had a signed united ball and asked me to confirm it by getting it, i passed it off saying its in the loft and i'm not routing up there for it, he aint mentioned it since but i know I'll have to tell him one day, which should be fun especially as my signed City ball is still up there

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
i'd of thrown it out too, or maybe let him kick it about the streets until it was all worn off.
1200 fucking quid he paid for that shirt, i'm jealous as hell, i must have it, i'm going to pester her into submission for it, i'm already reminding her of the things i've done in the past for her, even putting a bit of guilt her way
I dont care if he brought it for her, i'm out to get it, it's mine.
Colin Bell on you signed ball Slick, Franny Lee? Kincladze? Who's you got?

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
It would be a great replacement if you do get him, it's possible if he does come to England with Ramos in charge.
Modric looks a good buy, good luck this season Bash'
