Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
Liverpool has been awful in the games I have seen but they have been lucky as fuck.
Liege should have stuck at least 2 by them in the first leg at least and even nick the 2nd leg. Villa domainted them but again couldn't get the goal they needed.
Right now they are riding their luck and i don't think it can go on for much longer to be honest and think their results have put them in a false position.

this is probably the worst liverpool team to watch since the early sixties, only waiting for a bit of magic from torres or gerrard keeps you watching otherwise there entertainment value is zero.

Well 5 games into the season and we’re lacking something. Actually, that’s not strictly true – we’re lacking everything to be honest.

got to admit it but everytime i've watched liverpool they flattered to deceive and every football fan will admit that because they've been woeful.... talented individuals but as a team - nothing

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
One game does not make a season Kop.
Congrats today, you deserved the win. I do think it would have been a different result if we'd not gifted that 1st goal to you though as Liverpool looked to be struggling a little and the crowd had gone flat. Even the 2nd goal was a result of Giggsy's cock-up but on the balance of play after the 1st goal, the result was correct.
Still think you're flattering to deceive though. You've got to be honest, all the luck has gone your way so far this season.

FFS, Where have we been lucky apart from your Wes Brown OG?
So we havent been playing football like Brazil, Arsenal or Chelsea or whoever you consider to be sexy, entertaining football. The truth of the matter is we have a hard work, do not lose ethic that is getting us results, results build confidence, confidence brings your entertaining football. People just expect us too turn up and brush certain teams aside, that just doesnt happen at this point in the season does it. Arsenal tried it at Fulham and got fcuked.
We've got the points for now, i'm happy, so are 99% of other 'pool supporters with our league position.
Fuckin lucky my arse, we deserve to be where we are through a determination to get the result.

And yours was a result of Mascherano's cock up. I think 2-1 flattered you a bit tbh.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
United murdered us for the first 15 minutes or so and I thought that we were done for at that point. However the "2-man" team never gave up and despite the absence of both Gerrard and Fernando we managed to claw ourselves back level and ran out worthy winners. Second half, we absolutely battered them. I doubt not even the most staunch United fan would try to argue that they played better than us. Slur Alex himself said "Overall they were far the better team".
I still think we are behind Chelsea in terms of attacking options - their fullbacks played well yesterday. Boss Winger had a cracker down the right flank. One ball he crossed with the outside of his right foot yesterday was top class. Our fullbacks dont look as good going forward and I doubt they'll create as many chances.
Thought Riera had a good game, he offered width and looked a million miles ahead of the likes of Yossi and Dirk when they are asked to do the same job - I wonder why it took us so long to sign him. In that why wasnt the business done back in May?? Anyway - I havent even begun to talk about the Monster Masch. After a shaky start, he came back to boss the game and he never stopped going. What a player.

Any of you changing your minds about us yet? 11 games unbeaten now. Maybe just a little credit

No mate , you didn't beat Stoke at home which speaks volumes.
Do you really think you can win the league?

If the ref hadnt disallowed a perfectly good goal against Stoke, we would have won. It could have opened the flood gates, at the very least it would have given us a 1-0 victory.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08
I think this season is looking positive – credit where credit’s due.
The inclusion of a proper left footed left winger (Riera) has definitely added a sense of balance to the team. During the early games we had a front 3 of Keane-Torres-Kuyt and they looked confused at best. The natural balance in the team with the addition of Riera leaves us looking like decent prospects this year. He looks a million miles better than anyone else we have toyed with on the left in recent years, whether its Cheyrou, Riise, Aurelio, Leto, Kewell, or benayoun for that matter. You simply cant under estimate the value of playing people in positions they are comfortable with.
Babel has come on leaps and bounds in my opinion and as I’ve said before, he is now a match winner for us. You can probably add Gerrard, Torres, Mascherano, Reina and Carragher to that list too. All players who on their day, are capable of putting in sublime performances.
Football is a game of percentages and we now have more good players in the starting XI than bad. We are also edging closer to Chelsea and Man u in terms of the resources Rafa is able to call upon on any given match day. I’d probably go as far to say that our squad for Sunday’s game at Eastlands will be as strong as any on show in the Premiership over the weekend.
Liverpool/Citeh games at the COMS are usually low scoring, drab affairs. Hopefully we will come away from there with 3 points & to hell with the performance or entertainment value. Points on the board is all that matters.
