Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

You compare our opening results this year with the opening 7 of United last year. Just because we've had a slow start, doesnt mean we cant challenge.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Incidentally, Phil Thompson is a wanker.

Anyone see his reaction on Sky when Kuyt's goal went in. He was doing an update on another game when Kuyt scored. Rather than act like a professional and continue his report, he shouted 'GET IN THERE!' at the top of his voice and just stopped his report, looking over one of the other pundit's shoulders at the Liverpool game. Nothing else mattered.

Great reaction if he was a supporter sat in the pub. Appalling reaction for someone being paid to comment on a different game and moreso, when half way through his report.

He does this sort of thing on a regular basis. How does he get away with it? Imagine if Stelling and the panel all reacted like that every time one of their teams scored? The programme would be a farce. If I wanted to see that shite, I'd go down the pub.

Even Alan Green maintains his professionalism during his biased commentaries.

Only one person here deluded if you think that was dubious.

As said before fellas, it's points on the board that count and that 3pts was at a ground where the likes of Arsenal and Utd might not get 3 pts. And more importantly as things stand.. you cunts are chasing us

We've had biased comentators for years, you've always had the biased refs. That penalty against Bolton and you have the fucking cheek to call us lucky.

We must be reading different threads.

Credit for being top of the league. No credit at all for the way you've got there. That's the difference. You seem happy with having the points which is fair enough but surely even the most biased Scouse supporter can see you've ridden your luck to get there?

7 League Games - only played well twice (arguably)
10 Goals scored - 3 of your 5 wins from goals in the last 10 mins (2 in injury time)
3 opposition players sent off

You'll fall away like you do every season when the luck evens itself out.

You can do better than that Kop.

That was a lucky pen - never said it wasn't. But we're not talking about United here.

Biased refs - until the weekend, we were top of the bookings table this season and have had Vidic sent off. Did you see the Chelsea game?

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Vidic deserved to be sent off but no i didnt see the Chelsea game.

I said we'd win the league before a ball was kicked, i say it every season, it's always said in hope rather than honesty, i've not said it since then, all i know is what i've already said about our work ethic, our determination not to lose and our ability to score late goals is starting to put us in the frame, if we have been lucky, then we have earned our luck. You cant blame us for being happy and shouting our mouths off a little when we win.
We have a bit of a dig and joke and it's always kept in this thread but to keep being called lucky is not giving us the credit we deserve

YouTube - Jeff Stelling celebrates 2 quick Hartlepool United goals!!!!

You watch that video above and you tell me that Jeff Stelling is a pro who never dicks about when he gets excited.

Tell you what, we have got all the United fans worried and you're starting to bitch and snipe. We must be playing well if you're this mad.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Errr......thanks for the large text.

Yes they all dick about but not to the detriment of their jobs. Be dull if Stelling just read scores out wouldn't it? Thompson is an arsehole who doesn't do HIS job. Wouldn't expect you to agree as the only other Liverpool supporters more biased and blinkered than him post on this thread.

Yes we're petrified. Bitch and snipe? No. Saying it how it is more like. United have started shite this year (again) but are starting to find a bit of form. Liverpool are a better team than last year but have been jammy bastards also. I can't believe that you can't see that or have the humility to admit it.

Did Robinho miss an open net to make it 3-1? Yes
Should Skrtel have been sent off for his kung fu kick and therefore equal the sides up? Yes
Did the ball land at Kuyt's feet 2 yards in front of an open net for the winner 5 minutes into injury time? Yes

No luck there then.

Anyway, time will tell lads. May the luck be with you.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

All the pundits have allegiances to different teams and as a consequence, the program is fun. The amount of times my mates have moaned in the pub about Matt Le Toss being biased against Liverpool or Charlie Nicholas having a dig or whatever.... Its only a TV program - they are basically court jesters who get paid to shout, have a bit moan and dick around. I wouldnt take it so seriously Wayne.

Did the ball land right on Stephen Ireland's boot for City's opening goal? Yes and it was probably their first shot of the half.

Ifs, buts and maybes - all that matters is that we got the 3 points.

Re: The Official Liverpool thread 2007/08

Bit of bad news concerning Skrtel, it appears he may have done his cruciates. As soon as he saw how he landed, my mate (who is still off on the sick recovering from an op on his anterior cruciates) said it would be a long term injury. I just hope its a twinge rather than a full blown tear.

In any case, we have Agger to deputise for the time being.

Incidentally, I know there were some stories at the weekend about Dan Agger possibly attracting a bid from Real Madrid in January. Apparently Agger can leave for circa £3m come the new year. Its an impossibly low fee I know, but it all stems back to 'that player' who left Rangers for Wigan last year. Was he called Webster??

Anyway, there's a ruling that says that players who are under 28 and have been at their current club for 3 years or more and have less than 2 years on their contract, can leave for the balance of the deal. So he can buy himself out of his contract by giving 2 years wages @ £30k a week to Liverpool, thus becoming a free agent and enabling him to move wherever he pleases...

Its very worrying that the club have let it get to this situation, surely we should have either extended the deal or moved him on in the summer? Our club has a track record of getting fucked over when it comes to players contracts expiring, McManamanamanamanamanmanmanman and Mickey Owen come to mind....

I suppose that depends on your perspective mate.

8 days before a CL game, UEFA impose a ban on Altetico Madrid and make them play at least 300KM away from Madrid.

I imagine that if you were one of the 5’000 or so fans who had booked flights and accommodation in Madrid next week, you wouldn’t see it as a positive move. Once again, UEFA impose a judgement on football fans without actually thinking about the knock on effects on the average fan.

If they end up playing at a lesser ground with a smaller capacity, will all the people who have bought tickets be allowed in? Will Atletico be able to arrange Policing in time for the game? Will the fans be able to re schedule flights and arrange hotels in the new city?

Atletico have until Friday to appeal, that means we might not get a judgement and therefore information on where the game is to be held until Friday afternoon or maybe even Monday at the latest. Doesn’t leave your average football fan much time to re arrange their plans, but hey since when has Twattini ever cared about them!
