Very funny young man, shite myself @ first as i thought it was Michael Owen when i first glimpsed the picture.

Poldolski would be a great acquisition for us if we could get him as he looks built for the Prem, just a pity it only seems to be on loan though.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Well thats our season over now teams have finally sussed us, still @least we've 41 points in the bag which should Insure our safety.

No bite up front and too lightweight in midfield, in fact no midfield for the last few matches as there split to far up front and to far back with nobody in the middle.

oooh what i'd give for a Joey Barton right now, teams have learnt to stick it up us as we don't like it and are easily knocked off the ball, pump the high ball up and no bastard even challenges it for it, they just stand there watching hoping the defender makes a mistake clearing it.

to much success too soon gave us false hopes but at least we've had a good run and hopefully Frank will part with a few schillings in the summer as sven will now know the players he needs to take the team to the next level.

I had to laff while watching the Wigan v Chelsea game as all the goals came from ex City players, Add Anelka and Wright Philips to my Barton list and you know what we'd have one hell of a side.

I'm only joking about Barton but we do need somebody of similar qualities but without the nutter streak.

I'm not looking forward to the Derby either as the Rags will want to do a Chelsea on us here with interest and I can see me not being able to go out for the month of February.

Roll on the Summer.

It's not all doom and gloom slick , it's still the best prem season ever and this may be just a blip.
Lots of talk of us signing Vagner Love immenently , but nevertheless there's no reason to think we cant bounce back and start picking up the 1-0's again.
Cheer up ffs is what I'm saying

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Aye suppose i should but i don't like seeing us getting rolled over like that against a piss poor side who we should have got stuck into, i just get ate up watching it and wanted to bang a few heads together on that pitch and tell them what to do, i fact at times it was just like watching England when we were fcuking and farting about at the back when we needed to get a goal.

I just hope the newbies took it as a learning curve of what Brit football is all about and took a leaf out of Gary Speed and Chris Morgans book in that fancy football doesnt work on a shite pitch and sometimes you have to roll ure sleeves up and be counted.

It was also frigtning to see how much we have come to rely on Richards as neither of them goals would have gone in had he been playing, or why didnt Sven play Corluka in his place as he had a blinder last time he played there and Onoua as Right back , ahh fcuk it i'm rambling now and could go all night about what went wrong.

I'll think positive Keem and take it as a blip like u say allthough i'm not holding my breath.

I thought all was rosey down at the council house. I suppose when you start off so well, its inevitable you will have a bit of a slump which takes the shine off what has been a great season. As long as City manage a top 8 finish, its been a great success IMO.

I see Samaras has gone to Celtic.

Came out of the blue and i am going to give him a chance anyways.

Still young and came as a goalscorer although when i have seen him he has looked clueless and shite.

City fans thoughts on him?

He's got lovely hair.

Actually looks like an Ex of one of my best mates. We properly megged him the first time we saw Samaras. Dont think he could ever bear to poke that poor girl again....

Daniel Sturridge plays tonight for City.

Saw him a few years back in the Youth Cup and thought he would have been playing regularily before now. Will be following his progress with interest.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

He may do ok kiko but he hasn't got the mental strength to cope in the prem. He has some skill and if he gets a good run and some confidence I'm sure he'll do well

As for Sturridge he been palgued by injuries AFU , 7 months out he's just had . Sven and his staff rate him very highly

He's just banged in the equaliser but we are sooo poor tonight , Derby dont deserve to lose this if they do.
Looks like we are in for Benjani and this guy:

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

I can't see Pompey letting him go for that amount, I reckon its a smokescreen and we'll have one or two new players b4 tomorrows out.

If not then fair enough as we don't want to rush into anything as were safe this year so lets wait for better players to become available in the summer, still though we have Bojinov and Castillo in the wings and hopefully once fully fit they will add to Citys attack but if Sturridge keeps knocking em in he could be an answer for the future.

Vassell has to go, for all his workrate he just cannot score which is what we've been seriously lacking for a long time now, a striker who can score regularly.

Tonights match is shocking as keema mentions but not unexpected.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Aye i suppose in that respect AFU there very similar, never thought of it like that

As for Samaras Kiko he's Pearce's rough diamond that never got polished, he's a confidence player and was never suited to the fast pace of the Prem as he never got time on the ball, I used to call him twinkle toes.

He's probably more suited to continental football where he has time to turn and have a look round, then i have no doubt he'll start scoring again as he does with Greece.

His first touch is shocking and don't expect him to go past people as he can't run with the ball and when he does he has a tendency to balloon it.

he's like an old fashioned center forward and will score if the ball comes to him inside the box either with his head or feet, if you can afford to accomodate a player like than then fine but don't expect him to hold the ball up, pass or get stuck in as he just can't do it.

City in Europe next season?

Man City apply for Intertoto spot

Eriksson hopes City do not need the Intertoto Cup

Manchester City have applied to enter this summer's Intertoto Cup.
The competition provides an alternative route into the Uefa Cup if Sven-Goran Eriksson's side do not win a place via their position in the Premier League. The fifth and sixth placed teams qualify and City currently occupy sixth spot but they want an insurance policy. Eriksson told his club's website: "The deadline for the Intertoto Cup was 25 January and we are in it. Hopefully we won't need to but it's a possibility."
