Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Can't be that bad surely but with City who knows.

Exciting times should be expected now we have a few bob now Frank has took control and placed Sven at the helm.

As I thought would happen is ringing true as Sven looks towards where he feels most secure and knowledgeable in trying to bring in Swedish and Italian players, not too bad a reasoning in my opinion as as players from both those countries have a decent track record in British football from the days of Lombardo and (who ate all the pies) Brolin through to Di canio and Lunberg, all seem to have faired well even though Pearce tried to stop this trend with his selections of Dabo and Carradi.

So long as Frank can keep his nose clean and stay out of the thai equivalent of Strangeways then all bodes well for us Citizens and the next few weeks should prove interesting as to who Svengali Erikkson brings in next.

He's allready stated that he intends to build on Citys youth policy which anybody with a sane mind would also do and so long as he does not try and do an Allardyce on us by bringing in has beens to cover the short term we should be ok.
He's mentioned he wants to build for the future and i believe him and hopefully his nowce and contacts abroad should bring in the goods, its one thing to have cash at hand to spend but its another knowing where to spend it and i have a feeling that will be one of Erikksons strongest virtues as he does possess the worldywide experience expected of most Prem Coaches nowadays. And was the main reason i expected City to go continental rather than opt for a British manager.

Its early doors still and us City fans wouldent at all be surprised to be crying into our pint pots come this time next yr but there is an air of expectancy at the moment, something we have not felt for a good long while.

Good luck

Btw, i've just had a look on oddschecker and you can get a quite generous 9/4 with Blue Square for City to finish in the top half, only 11/8 with bet365

Sorry it's 11/8 with Paddy Power, not 365.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

I think they have a chance of improving. Serious money, a decent coach, backing from boardroom level down - it's all there. Lets be honest, things havent looked this good for City in years. They'll still all be moaning though, you can bet your house on it. Moaning is what city fans do best. If they start winning things, most of them would throw their season tickets on the pitch in disgust.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Keem - Martin Petrov looks ok I reckon.

I honestly think Sven will do well for ya's. He's probably had discussions 6 months in advance and has built up a serious dossier on who's available and who he wants. All that time he was being paid by the FA, he's probably been planning for this season with Citeh in mind.

Just seen this, was one of the big prospects for the future years ago when he signed for Barcelona. He has talent but its a risk, certainly one worth taking for a fee transfer.

Re: The Official Manchester City thread 2007/08

Its amazing what strikers can do where there played in the right position and have a bit of support, well were on a roll now and 7 goals in 2 games roll on the new season

I have a feeling Corradi will do well under Erikkson if he stays especially now he has a fellow countryman playing along side him too, I also believe Sven is after Santa Cruz, now that would be a capture and should sort us out up front for a next season.

When he's got some spare time you never know he might have a wee look at the defence b4 we end up with 11 strikers.
