I have seen it advertised on Sky, its the Premiership cup or something. Is South China an actual club team? Cant say I've heard of them before.

They're the best team in Hong Kong apparently. Won the treble last season and got to the semi's of the league cup over there.

why aren't they called something like, hong kong fc, rather than south china?

I image south china as having about 500 million people to choose from, cos china is so large and dense.

Little old hong kong though isn't quite as big.

Because there's already a team called Hong Kong FC Tricky, would be a might confusing with another one.

It was named South China when it was the Hong Kong representative in the Chinese Football League, before the formation of the Hong Kong league.
