Arsenal

I put a bet on them to win the league Yesterday, and the CL ata very generous 25/1.

This team has so many talented players, I actually think they can and will win the league.

HLEB for one is actually my favourite player in the world, I have never seen anybody with the close control he has, he has been inconsistent the last few seasons playing on the wing, but this year Wenger is looking like using him in the Bergkamp roll and in the two pre season friendlies I have seen, he has been absolutely outstanding playing there.

Everyone says "Arsenal will struggle to finish 4th" etc.. but I dont think they see the bigger picture.

Diaby, Hleb, Fabregas, Van persie are just as and in most cases more naturally talented than any players in any of the other top sides. Players like Lampard are still arguably better because of work rate, consistency mental abilities etc.. but this team Wenger has built will create chance after chance.

Van Persise is better than Wayne Rooney for one, had he not been injured he would have scored more goals than Rooney quite easily it seems, he scored 12 in the premiership playing half a season, he is also so much more consistent than Rooney, but for what Van Persie has over Rooney in talent, Rooney has the great worth ethic and stength. Still Van Persie for me edges it overall.

LiveLeak.com - Robin Van Persie Excellent Goal vs Inter Milan 2-1

I swear to god watch that.

Watch that, I watched that live and its breathtaking. But he does stuff like this all the time!

I havent just over reacted to one game, I fancied them weeks ago and watching them playing now re inforces my opinion.

12/1 to win the league represents value to me at least. Van Persie 20/1 top goalscorer as well now.

People will obviously dismiss this, but I wanted to get this in before the new season starts, so I can say i was right, or as it may be I was way off.

Re: Arsenal

Diaby, Denlison, Van Persie, Wallcott, Hleb, Rosicky, Fabregas, Eboue, Gilberto, Adebayor, Da Silva?

Brilliant midfielders/attackers to choose from there, no question of strength in depth.

The defence Gallas/Toure is brilliant as well.

Re: Arsenal

Van Rapist's goal today was great. I have got him in my fantasy team for next year. Brilliant player, him coming back will be like a new signing IMO. They missed him last year when he was out injured.

As for Arsenal winning the league, I doubt it.

Re: Arsenal

I think the gooners will do better than their odds suggest but i cant see them winning it. Hleb did nothing last season i thought Chris, quite poor i thought, maybe we'll see the best of him this season.

Great goal by Van Persie! Had a touch of Bergkamp about it.

Re: Arsenal

And what about Traore and Sagna,Traore could be great left winger ahead of Clichy who is maybe the beat left full back in the league with his consistency on ny level of football game.....same with Sagna who could give space for Eboue to be great right winger with all his pace and skills and great shot....I will be glad to see them on second place behind the Reds...or I will be glad to see them winning the league if Reds couldnt,I am a big fan of Wenger....

Re: Arsenal

Eboue will make a fantastic right winger, he played very well there ahead of sagna against PSG and Inter. He has all the qualities.

Traore as well is considered one of the best young prospects in europe.

Re: Arsenal

Not a bad start eh.

I stand to win 5 grand if they do win the league, probably guarantee a steady profit by laying it off as wel or summat soon. Long way to go yet obviously.

Where are all these "experts" saying Arsenal would finish 5th, its Spurs' year etc.., they should all be sacked immediately; it made me sick at the time because these people clearly do not know how football works.

Only one expert i know said Arsenal could challenge, unsuprisingly it was Andy Gray. Charlie Nicholas did as well, who I also like, but he could be bias.

Although Merson said Arsenal would struggle to finish 4th, but he was probably pissed at the time. Idiots.

Re: Arsenal

Great display today and they should improve as the season goes on if they remain injury free.
Utd and Chelsea do look vulnerable , maybe Giggs and Scholes could be just be going over the top , Tevez and Rooney , I just dont see it and Saha a bit iffy.
Chelsea cant score without Droggers fit.

This is Adebayor's goal , a corker:

Re: Arsenal

Arsenal looked very good in places but Spurs should of put them to bed at 1-0, Berbatov missed a great chance and at times Arsenal looked very open at the back. They are good to watch but i'm still not convinced they'll win the league. Sporting odds are still going 2/5 for a top 4 finish though

Re: Arsenal

Aye still early doors yet but they do look the part at the moment.

My biggest fear for them is that they are a relatively young team of mainly foreigners and they did struggle last yr once we hit winter, especially away from home.

Also aint the Africans nations cup this yr? as if so they may lose players like Eboue and Toure for a month or so.

I don't even think Arsenal have the strength in depth to cover losses to key players like Fabregas or Van Persie should that happen due to injury.

Plenty of iffs and buts i know but after only five games in i wouldent be counting my chickens just yet as Chelsea are starting to motor now even though they only got a point today but they did look good and liverpool are also starting to come in from the cold.

Still, i hope you do it Chris as i couldent bear the rags liftiing it again especially after the bad start they had as i'll never hear the fcuking last of it.
