Fantasy Football

Gonna have a day or two entering as many(free and otherwise) as I can, so a couple of questions for FF stalwarts...

1) What are good ones to enter...as many as possible pleeeese

2) For anyone that's had a look, what players/teams look the value this year?

Got Tricky's league entered, want a good 5 or 6 more...Sun, Daily Record, Daily Mirror all look decent.

Re: Fantasy Football

1. There are loads to choose from. They have all got different rules, so remember to read them all before entering. some like the metro, channel 4, sky sports, the times are free, while for The Sun, the telegraph the prizes are much bigger/better, but you are paying to enter!

2. It depends on which Comp you are entering. In general look at players newly transfered in, either from abroad, or weaker premiership teams, e.g.
Baines will look good once his move to Everton is finalised. Tevez likewise, though he could get rotated by Fergie.
I tend to stay clear mostly of Liverpool, Chelsea players just for the fact that their managers like to rotate their team around.

This season I will be entering a couple of teams in the Sundreamteam, a couple in the telegraph, and I have one already entered on the "Premier League" website! I might try out "The Times" new game, though it looks a tad complicated! PlayTheGame - Fantasy Football. With Brains | Times Online

I will also enter a team on the Sky Sports website. It is the original Fantasy Football, though your captain scores you double points! (it is free to enter as well)
Bigkegman has set up a mini league on Sky Sports | Fantasy | The Best Sport Coverage From Around The World, for which the League name is The Daily Punt, & league pin is 2480

Re: Fantasy Football

Like Win pointed out The Mail have two,one is free and has a 50,000 prizepool and one which you have to pay for that obviously has a larger prizepool.

The Daily Telegraph as well as running the original style fantasy league do have another fantasy game called "Super 20s",basically you will fight it out in a league with 19 other teams in a 38 week head to head competition, points scoring will be as you would see in any league,3pts for a win 1 for a draw and 0 points for a lose,ie your team must score more points in that week than your opponents for you to get 3 points.

Re: Fantasy Football

Cheers guys...as most of the sites allow free changes up to the 11th I'll stick a few of my sides up for comment/suggested changes:

Channel 4(55m on 11 players...4-4-2...max 2 from 1 team):

Reina 4.6 (take point re rotation but Benitez didn't rotate Reina much last season(altho I don't know much about new signing/how likely he is to play)

Geremi 3.8(Newc defence looks stronger this season and could poss play in midfield, plus freekicks?)
Baines 3.4(good price esp if off to Everton)
Distin 3.7(Pompey always well organised...Distin should lead defence this season)
Dawson 3.8m(Spurs looking strong this season...Dawson a regular pick and occasionaly amongst goals)

Barry 4(club capt and pen taker)
Pedersen 5(cant really afford Ronaldo(should I shuffle elsewhere to make sure I do?) so MG looks an ok replacement...free kicks and plenty games)
Lampard 6.7(pens, goals and not often rotated)
Lennon 4.1(nice price - and has a very powerful strikeforce to finish off his passes/crosses)

Yakubu 6.9(always one of my fav fantasy picks - first name on teamsheet, leads his line and always guaranteed near 20 goals a season...andy johnson better?)
Anelka 6.5(another first pick, and quality finisher to boot)

Leaves me 0.2m.

Re: Fantasy Football

Sheesh...that Times one is a bit contrived isn't it...ranking all 450 odd players Still, interesting little twist, but needs a bit more time spent on it.

Re: Fantasy Football

I am unsure about the times, I have actually entered a mini league, and I don't have to select an order until the 20th August. It looks like a lot of work though if you are taking it seriously, and not much in the way of prize money. It is more for bragging rights amongst your friends I would say..

I haven't checked the channel 4 one, so I don't know the value of the players/rules. I would want one of either Rooney or Ronaldo in my team if assists count, as they are two of the leading "assist" players.
Not sure about Anelka, I would rather upgrade to Rooney or Van Persie.
Reina if fit should play in nearly all of Liverpools games.

Lennon for me doesn't score enough goals, but then he could prove me wrong, and score a hatful this season. I don't know what price Koumas for instance is, as he could prove useful in what I expect will be a struggling Wigan team!
