May as well have an England thread to follow the downs and downs of this great nation's football team.

McClown has failed in a bid to bring Carra into the team for the game against Germany next week:

England manager Steve McClaren has confirmed Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has decided not to return to international football but has not ruled out a return for Sol Campbell.

Good on ya Jamie lad. Last month he was 5th choice, behind Terry, Rio, Woodgate & King. Now McLaren is up the creek without un paddle, as they say in France.

Rather than reaching for his dummy and rattle and going for what you know in Sol Campbell, I would opt for Steven Taylor. England's next great centre back I think. Captain material, strong, intelligent, a good communicator and a cracking defender. Dont go for the arl man who can "do a job" for the next game. Be brave!

Mclaren was at the west ham game, Richards played CB, his best position and got man of the match, the guys amazing.

If anyones spat their dummy it's Carra AFU. If he was 200th choice it shouldn't matter, he comes in plays well and moves up the pecking order. Soft cnut

Nah mate, Carra isnt fancied. Carra retires from international football, to concentrate on Liverpool.

Its worth noting that Carra told McLaren months ago and it was McLaren who chose to go to the press about it.

Carra didnt moan off to the Echo or the Mirror. He told him in private and was happy for it to stay that way. He only commented publically, when the story was "leaked" to the fleet st hacks.

I've nothing much to say regarding Carra only that it's upto him but how can anybody rate Woodgate???? Sorry Computer Guy i wont argue with Rio but Woodgate??

What's he achieved apart from a little bit of success at Leeds? It's no suprise that only Middlesborough came back in for him, and look where they'll be this season. Most over rated player EVER and i've seen nothing anything slightly good of him for more than 4 years.

Hasn't he just been given the award of Real Madrids worst ever player too?

I'd be happy with Rio and Terry every time, but then Carra and i've nothing against King as both can do various jobs in defending.

I dont think we can rely on King and Woodgate. Talent aside, I just dont think you can rely on them because they're so bloody injury prone. We could take 4 centre halfs to a tournament and you can bet that Woody and Ledley would both pick up injuried.
