The Serie A Thread - 2007/08

Always been a fan of Football Italia.

I think because it was accessible and on terrestrial, wheras when I was a kid, Sky hoovered up the rights to English footy. Sundays were all about Football Italia for me and me dad. James Richardson, Peter Brackley and that cafe in Rome near the Parthanon. Brilliant!

When it all started Juve had a mint team. Gazza had just moved to Italy and the likes of Vialli, Ravanelli, Jugovic, baggio and latterly Zidane were plying their trade over there. It was the best league around.

Anyway, Football Italia is back on terrestrial telly, on Channel 5! Brilliant news isnt it! Beats the pants of La Liga!

Re: The Serie A Thread - 2007/08

Nice Video of Gazza there AFU and one i aint seen b4.

Gazza was probbaly the best English player i've ever seen and if it wasent for that knee problem could have become one of the worlds best, he had natural talent in abundance and that ability to just 'ghost' past soembody as if they wasent there without possessing great speed was amazing.

The only player I've seen since do that is Rooney in his Everton days as he had the same ability but since joining United its gone, whether its been coached out of him i don't know but Rooney has not taken any steps forward since becoming a rag.

nice post...was exactly the same way myself when i was younger watching the live game on c4 and the following saturday morning the highlights programme was immense. Fell for Fiorentina though and would still follow them, Batistuta will always be my favourite footballer! Loved Rui Costa back then too and Toldo.
