Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

David Levy at Tottenham is just one in a long line of Jewish people who are more than capable when it comes to making businesses flourish but I never seen such shabby man management before.
Martin Jol may hold his head high. He“s been treated appallingly by people who should know better but didn“t.

Spurs might go down and who really cares when such an arrogant management team has contributed so greatly?

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

Read a link from Betfair forum just before game starting and it was that Spurs and Jol have agreed to part ways. I just ignored it as the website looked a bit dodgy.

Seems to be right though and it has to be said that its absolutely bizarre way to part terms with a manager and team isn't it

Good on em

I Hope he comes back to haunt them though.

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

It was time for him to go when Levy got caught out in Spain. The delay of it all fucked Spurs.

5th, 5th again and a Uefa final wasn't bad in his short time.

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

To be fair Jol has done pretty well from all this imo.

Successive finishes at 5th in the league was pretty good and to think they were so close to making the Chapions League last season.

I have heard many times that there was other influences at Spurs who were making and dictating all the transfer dealings within the club overpowering Jol in most of the dealings.

I like him a lot and feel he has been hung out to dry bu the Spurs board and like Kop says, i hope he comes back to haunt them.

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

Its a strange one as I've always kind of liked him as well, so my first instinct is that its harsh. But when you look into it deeper hes spent a lot of money in the summer without improving the squad, all the new players are much of a muchness for the ones he let go so unless they gel immediately in that situation the manager will be in trouble.
I still feel he was hard done by but by making all of those signings he sowed his own seed. A manager stands on his signings, & for the money he spent they simply werent good enough, especially as they all happened in the same time frame.
He'll always be linked with Darren Bent for £16.5 million, unless he produces something most people dont expect, that will haunt Jol

Spot on.

Do Spurs have a realistic chance of breaking into the top 4 and managing to sustain their place there? Is that a realistic target?

If the answer is yes, then surely Jol has shown progress. He's steadied the ship, he has the highest points/game and %-age win ratio of any Spurs boss in 'modern' times. Surely to be looking for a replacement in August (with the season just days old) and to get caught by the media is both shambolic and counterproductive.

From the moment the players knew that Levy had spoken to Juan the man, they lose all respect for the gaffer. His authority had been undermined and the club has disintegrated around him. It was an impossible position.

Shabby from a man-management perspective and futile as well.

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

From an email from Stan James today

"At first I was afraid, I was petrified, I kept thinking I couldn't turn
Spurs into a top four side. I spent oh so many nights thinking how
Stalteri did me wrong- perhaps I'm wrong- but I'll just have to carry on...

And we'll be back, into fifth place.
Wait till the transfer window opens, sign another waste of space.
I should have sold Paul Robinson, I should have dropped him from the team,
If I had known for just one second he'd concede more than Derby...

Go on now go, Bent there's the door
Just turn around now, 'cause you don't score goals anymore.
Weren't you the one who cost more than Thierry Henry?
I knew you'd crumble, I'd rather have Emile Hes-key..."

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

I don't know how true it is but Talk Sport were reporting yesterday morning that the new Spurs Monopoly board game had been released for Christmas and that Jol wasn't featured.

Don't know if anyone can confirm that?

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

Inevitably, Ramos has resigned as Sevilla coach.

Quote:
Ramos resigns as coach of Sevilla

It is believed Tottenham have made an offer to Ramos

Juande Ramos, the favourite to replace Martin Jol as Tottenham manager, has resigned as coach of Sevilla.
Sevilla director of football Ramon Rodriguez was in London on Thursday and it is thought he has begun negotiations with Spurs over compensation for Ramos.
Spurs reportedly want Leeds assistant boss Gus Poyet to assist Ramos, who only speaks rudimentary English.
According to reports from Spain the 53-year-old Ramos has agreed a four-year deal with Spurs.

Report: BBC football correspondent Jonathan Legard
Ramos' contract with Sevilla had been due to expire at the end of this season.
He has led Sevilla to the Uefa Cup title in each of the last two seasons and into the Champions League for the first time.
It is thought that Ramos wants to install Poyet as his assistant boss at Tottenham but the Leeds assistant manager insists he has not been approached.
The former Uruguay international, who played for Tottenham between 2001 and 2004 told BBC Sport earlier on Friday: "Everybody is calling me and sending me texts about it but I don't know anything. I haven't spoken to anyone.
"I don't know if something has gone on between the clubs. I don't have a clue."
Leeds said they had not received an approach from Spurs for Poyet - and would not welcome one.
However, the club later revealed Poyet has been asked to stay away from Elland Road for the League One game against Millwall on Saturday.
