Spurs admit mistakes on Jol exit

Supporters sang Jol's name as they learnt his fate before he did

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has admitted the club made mistakes with the departure of former coach Martin Jol.
Jol was sacked after Thursday's Uefa Cup loss to Getafe but the news was leaked before the game and spread to media and fans as the match went on.
Levy told the Spurs website: "Several events clearly did not happen as we all would have wished and things could have been handled differently and better. "But the first time we met to discuss his position was after the match."

A number of versions of the Dutchman's departure have been reported and Jol said that he found out his fate when his nephew told him in the tunnel after the game. But Levy has attempted to put the record straight in an open letter to supporters. "There were no discussions prior (to the game) and there were none of the reported disagreements," he added.

"Media speculation which preceded the game, inaccurately reporting Martin as having resigned, was in no way a deliberate measure by this club, in no way served our purposes and we have resented any suggestion that this was the case

Leeds chairman Ken Bates was also unhappy about the way Spurs have pursued his assistant manager Gus Poyet.
Bates says he first learned of the news from a report on television.
"I was watching the Uefa Cup ties on Thursday when Sky told me my assistant manager was off to Spurs. What's that all about?" he said.

This from 18th September.

Sevilla coach Ramos to stay put

Ramos (left) says he rejected a "dizzying" offer to coach Spurs

Sevilla coach Juande Ramos says he will remain at the Spanish club until the end of the season, ending speculation of an imminent move to Tottenham. When asked whether he would be staying at Sevilla, Ramos said: "Of course, I am here and I don't want to get distracted by speculation." Ramos had previously said that he rejected a "dizzying offer" from Spurs and would fulfil his Sevilla contract.

Mmmmm we can see he's a man of his word then eh? Swears loyalty to the club that pays his wages and then fucks them over after an alleged ilegal approach by Spurs.

Worth remembering for the inevitable time when he starts rambling on about players loyalty to the club

Poyet supposedly hasn't heard anything (supposedly mind you). It looks like they'll be paying Ramos a FORTUNE to manage them and they still get gubbed today.

I dont think he'll make much difference tbh because they wont be relegated and even if Jol was sill in charge they wouldn't get relegated either

Spot on mate. This is surely a dream job for a manager. He surely can't do worse than the current rate of 7 points in 11 games so anything from here has got to be an improvement. If, by some miracle, things don't improve he has the excuse that these are not his players and he gets a second chance with the transfer window in January.

My gran could take over this job and look good.

Only thing I think you got wrong odm was not highlighting DREAM job anymore.... according to bbc 6million a year WTF. I'd let your gran do that for a third of that and me and you could enjoy the rest.

Ramos has landed on his feet. He knows it, I know it and you know it only difference is he's getting paid loads for it.

Where is komp with the purse strings when you need him

I'd be interested in beating the likes of Bolton, Blackburn and Newcastle home and away before you set your sights on the big boys. You could draw at home, lose away to the big 4 you have mentioned above and still win the league.

Equally you could have great results against the top sides (Boro, Bolton and Blackburn have turned them all over in recent years) and then fuck it up by not being clinical against the 'lesser' sides.

Consistancy, improving the defence and a new goalie should be top priority.

Re: Bye Bye Martin Jol

The new boss came to town midweek and was greeted by some twat who can barely string two sentences together while Daniel Levy decided to stay away.

I have no affiliations to any football club but if there´s any justice (even only street level stuff) I would hope that Spurs go down and take the whole Levy board with them.
