One 3pm top flight kick off on a Saturday

Me and AFU were just talking in another thread . A full top flight program and ONE kick off on the traditional 3pm Saturday slot.

Maybe it deserves its own thread, but when you look at the games that actually play on Sunday, you could have had at least 4 of them on the Saturday:

Arsenal v Sunderland, 12:00
Blackburn v Birmingham, 15:00
Bolton v Chelsea, 15:00
Fulham v Portsmouth, 16:10
Liverpool v Tottenham, 15:00
Man City v Middlesbrough, 15:00
Newcastle v Everton, 15:00
Reading v Derby, 14:00

The ones in bold should not be scheduled for a Sunday because they dont involve teams in the UEFA cup and to be honest, I cant see that they're big TV games that warrant a Sunday kick off.

Here's city's explanation , and a dastardly good one at that

Newcastle at home was due to be our last game of the season but because the UEFA cup final is being played at our ground we cannot use the stadium for 10 days before the event. It means there was a slight change in the fixture and as a result we have 3 home games running now and 2 away games to finish off.

But, as for the Arsenal Sunderland - what a shit time for a game. There are no trains from the North East (Newc/SunLun) that would get you to London in time for the game.
