I’m not his
PR or anything but i just thought I’d give him a mention as one of his horses got me out of the shite today.
I reckon he’s a bit of a legend for what he’s achieved in life so far. 20 years as a professional footballer and then going on to becoming a very successful race horse trainer, there can’t be too many sportsman who achieve in two completely different types of sport to the levels that he has.
He was an F.A Cup winner with Southampton and a League Cup winner with Norwich, not the biggest collection of trophies but with clubs like Southampton and Norwich I think it’s quite impressive. 46 England caps and 21 goals puts him in 15th place in the list of all time England goalscorers.

After football he began working an assistant trainer before becoming a licensed trainer himself in 1990. In 2002 he ended the season with 123 winners, topping the 100-mark for the first time in his career. Among owners who have had their horses with Channon are old colleagues and acquaintances from his footballing days, including Keegan, Alan Ball and Sir Alex Ferguson.
He has also trained 10 (home and abroad) group 1 winners to date.
Thanks for Siberian Tiger @ 12/1 today, Mick
