Was there a combination of teams that could have come out where the Welsh wouldn't have been fucked?

Would say that we Germans have the easiest group anyway. I think we have to reach 30 points.

English team with a nice group Croatia ( we knew from wednesday) Ukraine (with Shevchenko and Voronin two premier league strikers) Belarus with Alex Hleb from Arsenal.

Schottish also a hard group with Netherlands and Norway.

Like I said before, having a strong team is a good thing for England Rather than having a scrappy affair with teams all beating each other, surely it can't be too arrogant to suggest that Croatia and England might go through.

Scotland appear to have the worst draw of the home nations (and Eire) to me.

Ah, I see only the top team qualifies and the second teams go into a play off scenario.

Should be good

Re: World Cup 2010 Draw - Sunday

Most seem delighted with Scotlands draw but i really do feel its a very tough group for us.

Holland aren't a bad first seed to get imo as they aren't as strong a side as they have been down the years and i would rather have got them over your Italy, Germany and France.

The rest are quite strong teams from their pots. Iceland may have had a poor last campaign but they still possess some decent players like Gudjohnson.

Macedonia is a nightmare. Drawn away to England and beaten Croatia comfortably at home. Really not looking forward to the trip there.

Norway, again, is another tough one. Finished 1 point off qualifying for the Euro 2008.

Wales, N Ireland and Republic have tough groups too especially the Republic of Ireland. Cyprus and Georgia shown they are no mugs.

As usual England have the easiest of the groups of all the home nations IMO. Always the fucking same isn't it

When looking at the top seeds you can get. Straight off you would want either Croatia or Greece so they have to be happy. Croatia beat you's twice but look how many of the goals were really really soft.

Ukraine is a toughy as i was impressed with them but you would think England could at least finish in the play offs at worst. Kazahstan and Andorra will hold no problems for them and thats 12 points already.

Yes, but I'm sure Croatia and Ukraine will both be thinking exactly the same thing.

Maybe so.

England usually never drop points against these size of nations whereas looking at previous qualifications you will find Croatia and Ukraine regularly do.

Re: World Cup 2010 Draw - Sunday

Good draw Scotland! We had France, the Dutch and Italy left in at the end so I punched the air when the Dutch came out for us!

Holland as said all along were one of the ideal first seeds - we can handle them at Hampden and trouble them away too.

Norway is decent - Scandinavian teams suit the British style of play and they've always done well against them.

Macedonia we can deal with at home but will be tricky away - and with Scotland you never know what team is gonna turn up for our away games in Eastern Europe...tricky...but the same for the rest.

Iceland - could have been better or worse, but if we have realistic designs on qualifying then we must take 6 points, and again, their style should suit us.

Overall, I think the smaller group will suit us as a pot 6 team in there would probably cause us more problems than it will our rivals.

All in all...very happy, especially with a few good away trips too! Trip to Amsterdam a definate, and then have to choose between the other 3...Reykjavik interesting, Oslo expensive, and Skopje unknown...

Ok draw for England - Ukraine will be a big danger if they can get their away form sorted as they have both the home form and the personnel to seriously worry both teams at the top. Croatia showed what a promising side they are last week - some very, very talented players in the middle, but not a bad pick from the top pot. Belarus and Kazahstan are tricky little ties and as Macedonia showed v England, 6 points from each can't be taken for granted.

Northern Irish group is just horrible - jam packed with central and eastern european teams that the home nations often struggle against...work cut out but they'll give it 100%.

Republic draw is ok - Georgia and Montenegro are tough draws from pots 5 and 6, but Cyprus and Bulgaria are good for them and will give them a good shot at 2nd place, although Italy might be too tough to shift from top spot.

Wales...ouch. Tough, but even though ermany should have 1st sewn up, Russia can be unpredictable, especially away from home, and Finland have an aeging side(i think) so there are maybe slight chances for 2nd there.

Think so, they played England in Barcelona in the Euro qualifying campaign. Might be tempted if it's a weekend game, but I very much doubt I'd be bothered with going all the way up there for a midweek game.
