Winning the Prem on a shoe string - it doesnt happen.

Re: Benitez - Crisis point?

So he didn't change his team 99 games in a row? I though that was common knowledge.
He'll be judged a lot sooner than that I rekon Andee, christ knows why you lot are in denial over this.

Re: Benitez - Crisis point?

Every manager makes changes keem. How many times this year has Sven kept exactly the same team - with no changes?

I cant answer that but it would be interesting to see. Statistically, he makes the same number of chanegs per game as Ferguson. He makes no more changes than any other manager and thats a fact.

And yes, some of his buys have been iffy. Show me a manager who doesnt make bad buys? Even the bad players have been offloaded for cost price or even a profit in some cases.

Some of his buys have been great though - Carson, bought for £500k and will be sold for £10m.

Rafa hasnt had a big budget to play with. Its easy when you can go out and buy Cristiano Ronaldo or Owen Hargreaves etc. When you spend mega money on proven players, you will have a better success rate than when you spend less money and take a chance on an unknown.

Yes he did.

I think PSV was the game where he stopped the rotation, off the top of my head.

He seems to be old school , he plays his best 11 no matter what.
I will accept that Beitez is more than just a quite good manager if any of you can explain why he left a fully fit Torres on the bench. Not only explain it but actually justify it

Re: Benitez - Crisis point?

its alright resting players when you get a chance, but not in hard away games like he does, ferguson will always play his strongest available team in hard away games and rest players at old trafford depending on who they are playing,i think torres is a great player and should start when fit and no be left on the bench, iam amazed you are defending his policy when it has cost you umpteen points already this season and will probably cost you any chance of the league.

Re: Benitez - Crisis point?

I think Benetiz should stick out this season and then decide.

We need to see if he is the man to take this club forward or if he has got as far as he can. They have finished consistently in the league and i know they won the CL but its time to really make a push for the title imo. If they just finish in the same position than past seasons then i would say its time to move on as there doesn't seem to be anymore progress.

I am frustrated that we have lost points to teams that a title chaser should be beating - Blackburn, Brum, Spurs, Pompey spring to mind.

However I dont think he's guilty of resting Torres to the detriment of the team. You look at Michael Owen for example, as soon as he says he's fit, he's back in the team. How many injuries has he come back from, only to crock himself again.

Rafa is taking a responsible line with Torres. In the grand scheme of things, there's no point rushing a player back from injury to win 3 points, when we could end up injured for a handful of games.

If Torres is fit, he plays. Crouch however is another matter and on that I take issue with Rafa's judgement.
