Premiership Predictor

Anyone done it? In fact it's not just the prem, it's all English League Football

BBC SPORT | Football | BBC Sport's football predictor

We all know that shocks happen every week and it's all just a bit of a laugh but I had a go during an idle moment at work, jotted the results down to post here and I've lost the bastards

From memory though, I have United being three points ahead with one game left to play which, given their superior goal difference means that they have clinched the title.

I have Arsenal and Chelsea level on points in second and third (Chelsea probably just scraping second on goal difference).

Liverpool fourth and Everton and Villa taking the other euro spots.

At the bottom, Derby and Bolton down, joined by Fulham. When I went back to review Fulham's games to see where they might pick up more points, I noticed that if they took four points from their games against Newcastle (today) and Sunderland (5th April), then they would stay up and Sunderland would go down which would be terrible news for me as I have bets on the exactly the opposite

Yeah, I had a go at this. Had Sunderland going down by a point (disagree with that ), with Fulham and Derby. Bolton for the third team imo. Man U to win it on GD.

ok not a prob but the thing i like about it was it give you the % of what people are thinking - its not realistic when you only get 4 or 5 people posting picks but if we where to get say 20 everyweek it gives a better idea

Just pointing out that only 5th is a Uefa Cup spot this season due to the cups (Spurs in Carling and an as yet unknown non big team for the FA). You might already know but meh. Unless theres fair play or intertoto crap on offer, which there probably is

No I didn't know that mate. Thanks for pointing that out.

They've been quoting a top six finish all season but I suppose that's because they were expecting United or Chelsea to win the FA Cup. Looks like Villa will miss out then,

Re: Premiership Predictor

Quite interesting that, I have Man U winning the title on goal difference from Chelsea both on 89 points with Arsenal and Liverpool finishing 3rd and fourth respectively.

Going down are Derby, Fulham and Birmingham.

Re: Premiership Predictor

Total conjecture this sort of thing but I did it anyway.

I had Man Utd only actually beating Chelsea by 1 point with Arsenal way way off the pace. Liverpool 4th beating Everton extremely comfortably into 5th, infact Pompey only finishing 2pts shy of us in 6th which is a bit worrying as that would mean european qualification goes to the last day of the season

Birmingham pip Bolton on goal difference to stay up with a lame 32pts. No one else close to going down but Wigan the lowest of the rest with 36pts.

Re: Premiership Predictor

Thought id mention this here since there was europe qualification talk.

An added thing I thought of today is if Pompey came 5th and Everton 6th but Pompey won the FA Cup (definite possibility) then 6th place would become a europe spot (Ive checked it out and this is the case rather than the cup runners up). After Pompey won today I looked at their remaining 6 fixtures and theyre all winnable which is a bit scary, so ill be cheering them in the FA Cup

Re: Premiership Predictor

We won't finish 5th Muze. No doubt we'll slip up at West Ham and Man City plus maybe a couple of draws at home. Not being pessimistic but our eyes are on the FA and I reckon we'll finish 6th or 7th tbh.

Re: Premiership Predictor

Still not confident Scottie?

Pompey v Newcastle
Man City v Pompey
Pompey v Blackburn
Boro v Pompey
Pompey v Fulham

Brum v Everton
Everton v Chelsea
Everton v Villa
Arsenal v Everton
Everton v Newcastle

I reckon weve got 4-7pts in us out of those, id predict 5pts if I had to the way were playing lately (4pts at home, 1pt away). Which means 10pts would see you pip us and I think id actually predict a 10pt haul for you there if I had to say (7pts at home, 3pts away). Its very 50/50 imo. Im not happy with West Ham at all tonight needless to say!

Re: Premiership Predictor

I thought Cardiff needed special dispensation as there Welsh and not allowed into the UEFA cup via the FA cup even if they won it , which if so could open up a can of worms maybe UEFA will give us an extra slot anyhow.
