Re: Welcome To Spurs
Don't worry Kop, If they ever start doing a nightmare team competiton instead of dream team, he'll be the first name on the list.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
On a brighter note though I really like some of the signings Spurs have made with my favourite signing of theirs being Dos Santos.
He is a special young talent who i was surprised to find Barca let go so easily and so cheap too. Thats an outstanding bit of business from Spurs to get him for so cheap as i imagine his sell on price in the coming years will be at least double that.
The kid has everything bar a big physique for me. Consistency is another problem but youths that age always develop that as time goes by so i dont see that as a problem.
I am really looking forward to seeing him for Spurs and i hope he is used regularly and not as an impact player off the bench.
Definately a player i could see the likes of Chelsea or Man Utd snapping up down the line.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
Players leaving the club at later on into their contracts is fine as there will always be replacements and the club will always remain financially stable thanks to some of the teams in the top 4 who didnt have the foresight to take these players earlier in their carrears.i.e Keane to Liverpool see Gerreads media quotes and Man Utd with Carrick and possiby Berbatov,More players linked
David Villa 23m
Corluka 9.5m
This small club continues to amaze, should they land these players.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
Looks like another belter is on the way. But how will Modric, Giovanni and Arshavin fit into the same team? Bloody nice problem to have.
Quote:
LONDON (AFP) — Russian striker Andrei Arshavin is close to signing for Tottenham after his club Zenit St Petersburg agreed to lower their original 20 million pound asking price.
Arshavin, encouraged by a conversation with head coach Juande Ramos, is willing to join Spurs after initially declaring Barcelona as his preferred destination.
Spurs are in the market for strikers following the departure of Robbie Keane to Liverpool and Dimitar Berbatov wanting to leave White Hart Lane for Manchester United.
Arshavin would be seen as a like-for-like replacement for Keane.
"There are only small differences left," Zenit sporting director Konstantin Sarsaniya told Sovetsky Sport, who suggested a deal could be concluded over the weekend.
"Zenit have decided to reduce the asking price for Andrei, but exactly how much I cannot say because the negotiations were led by Zenit president Alexander Dyukov."
Berbatov has told Spurs officials he wants to leave for United but a fee being agreed between the clubs has not been announced.
The Bulgaria striker, 27, has been in training with Spurs all week and was scheduled to travel with the squad to Middlesbrough for their Premier League opener at the Riverside.
Should Berbatov leave, Ramos would be left with Darren Bent as his only out-and-out striker, with new signing Giovani dos Santos as possible support for the attack.
Ramos has also been linked earlier in the summer with a move for Arshavin's Russia team-mate Roman Pavlyuchenko. and Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz has also been suggested as a possible target.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
I agree Basher, you've made some very good signings so far, Arshavin still has alot to prove.
Berba staying or going?

Re: Welcome To Spurs
If Berbatov goes and Arshevin goes to Spurs it will be brilliant news for both teams in my view.
Berbatov will shine with the new challenge at United, rather than moping around at WHL tossing his hair around and flouncing off every time he's subbed.
I hope it happens for the good of the Premiership season which I've been looking forward to more than any I can remember for a long time.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
I am not too high on Arshavin myself i must admit as i do wonder where he has been the last 7 seasons or so where he has been a relative unknown yet after one good season he is all of a sudden worth 20m.
Hard to justify that IMO.
If they do get him though i can see Ramos adopting a Barcelona style approach to games with formation and play.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
I'm reading that Spurs started with Dawson today ffs.
Why, Why , Why, Why, Why?
Truth be told, I actually WANT Spurs to do well but they can never achieve top 6 with this cunt regularly in the starting line up.
Can't wait to see match of the day.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
I don't have to wait for MOTD. Just watched Boro's second goal and Dawson was at fault for the second goal not ONCE but TWICE.
Let his man run away from him for the build up, got himself back in time for when the ball came into the box but just let the geyser poke it into the net.
With this clown starting and the Berbatov issue rumbling on it's looking like another poor start to the season. It's only Sunderland at home next so there's three points guaranteed but the next game is away to Chelsea

Re: Welcome To Spurs
First thing i thought when i seen the highlights was "ODM will be posting about it on TDP"
Useless cnut he is although i can't say i am so sure Spurs are guaranteed 3 points against Sunderland. I think for once Keane has made some shrewd signings and with a few old SPurs boys playing they will want to put in a performance.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
He's lucky he didn't concede two Keeks. The disallowed goal could well have been given on another day as they were both pulling and tugging. I think the decision was the right one but if the ref looks over to see Dawson flailing around and hanging off the strikers waist, he could easily decide to give the goal or a penalty.

Re: Welcome To Spurs
Listening to Frank Clark on talksport he seems to think FIFA can step in if Spurs decide to let Babytov rot in the reserves, and insist the club must allow the player to leave,ok fine, but what If Spurs dont agree a deal with the buying club?
PAVLYUCHENKO says he has signed,no statement from Spurs
Hes goal to games record for Spartak in the russian league 147 (77)

Re: Welcome To Spurs
Say Berbatov goes for £25m....You bring in Pavyluchenko for around £20.
Terrible business IMO as Berbatov is a far better player.
Pavyluchenko misses too many chances. One of those players who will get plenty of chances on a plate for him every game but isn't clinical enough.
I do like him as a player though but don't think his value is correct.

Don't know about that, £20 sounds like a bargain to me
