Erickson for the chop?

What a season it has been for Citeh - from Champions League contenders playing some nifty stuff, to a club in crisis if the Sunday papers are to be believed.

If you believe the Funday Times, Shinawatra and the honourable City of Manchester are about to part company with Mr Sven.

I think it would be a shame is Sven san wasnt given the time to achieve something, I mean surely pulling the plug before he's had a full season in charge is absolutely ludicrous!

Yeah it really would be, theyve had a good season overall. Last 2 seasons in the bottom half with relegation worries, this season comfortable as fcuk, gona come 8th or 9th. A marked improvement what more dyou want in a single season.

Re: Erickson for the chop?

Can't see it myself and the Times have a habit recently of having a dig at city anyway they can, Svens done well in his first yr with virtually a new team and allthough the style of play at times has been shocking he does get results , allthough if we didnt have such a good start to the season as we did, we would really be up against it to stay in the Prem.

Asa young team i can only see things getting better for City and we'll have a few more decent kids from the academy banging on the door next yr too along with any buys that come in over the summer.

Sven Gone?

Sky Sports News just reporting that Sven is set to walk away from city.

Seems the papers have picked up on it for the morning also.

Have to say the second part of the season has been an absolute disaster really but it does seem bizarre.

Re: Sven Gone?

Tis official

Quote:
City owner Thaksin Shinawatra told Eriksson he was "not the right man for the job" at a meeting on Sunday, a source close to the Swede said.

Eriksson informed the players at training on Monday that he would be dismissed, provoking an angry response. The Swede, who has two years left on his contract, says he will not resign.

"Sven reacted calmly, as usual, but he was very surprised and disappointed," the source told BBC Sport.

"He doesn't want to leave the club and will not resign. He loves working with the players and his work at Manchester City has only just begun."

However, their form has faltered badly since Christmas and they now lie ninth, having won just four of their last 15 games.

"The team has not been playing as well as it should have or getting the right results since Christmas," said the source.

"But overall it has been a good season. Thaksin agreed a five-year plan with Sven in the summer and the target for the first year was to finish in the top 10."
That last sentence says it all imo. The heady heights they got to in the start of the seasons gone to Thaksin's head and hes not thinking straight or doesnt know squat about football.

Mental

City won't get a manager with his status in again. This Thai bloke has all the makings of a Mad Vlad Romanov with his attitude to SGE.
