Henin Retires

With immediate effect.

Wow talk about a shocking moment. Didn't seen this coming at all and just heard about it on radio.

Has she given any reasoning yet?

Crazy

Re: Henin Retires

Maybe shes just lost her appetite for it a bit. She has amassed like 10m quid from her tennis playing alone so shes set for life at 25. If shes not 100% enjoying it anymore theres no reason to play on for financial reasons.

Obviously theres a myriad of personal reasons it could be down to as well. She seperated from her husband last year as well as getting back in sweet with her family that she hadnt seen for ages or something. I remember last year her brothers, sisters attending a game of hers for the first time ever even though shes been a pro for ages.

Not that im a fan of womens tennis really, but it would be nice to see one of the best womens players of all time sign off after winning Wimbledon, as its the only slam she hasnt won yet. Then she could have retired having done everything you can do in the game, and you can never disagree with someone retiring when theyve achieved everything. Shes even won a gold medal at the Olympics

Re: Henin Retires

Retiring with immediate effect it seems so no French Open defence or Wimbledon win - just saying she isn't playing well anymore and not enjoying it.

Re: Henin Retires

Very strange this one. She has had health issues in the past. Her compatriot Kim Clisters left very early too.

Re: Henin Retires

no worries! Roland Garros is open one way or another

i rare watch women tennis, what i say is valid for men also

she simply fed up, she lost the winning stamina, she lost motivation to play, thats all, reminds me beckam, ronaldinho, ronaldo and many others, they give up early in age

i will not be surprised if federer follow her and retires, he looks in poor stamina this year, perhaps no longer motivated, he can do several kind of business, he earned too much money from tennis, but when i see his wife screaming in every match...then i say the probabilities for federer to retire are limited and it is unrealistic to expect such event, defeats though, and more more defeats yes, i realistically expect

Beckham and Ronaldo?

Bizarre statement that is IMO.

Beckham didnt lose motivation, infact he showed hunger and ambition and got himself back into the Real Madrid starting line up and England squad.

Many players at his age and the money he was on could have jsut sat comfortably on the bench letting their career fade away but he showed what a great sportsman he is.

Ronaldo too....I am sure he would love to be playing football regularly but his body just can't take it and its injury after injury for him which is a shame as he was such a top quality player in his day.

The others i can agree with though.
