Re: Tyson Retires

I cant belive that Tyson is mentioned in the same breath as Ali.
The man epitomised the pugilist , he had skill and intelligence and didn't rely on big punches . Him frazier and foreman at their pomp would shyte all over anything produced in the last 20 years

Three against one? A bit unfair isn't it?

Re: Tyson Retires

Keema the debate about who was better out of Tyson and Ali will rage on forever, They had different styles and it is a matter of opinion who would have won that one.

But Foreman and Frazier would have stood zero chance against Tyson. They were all bullies in the ring but Tyson did it ten times better than both of them. Tyson was stronger and had faster hands than either. Tyson also had much better head movement and Foreman wouldn't even have laid a glove on Tyson. Frazier had decent head movement but he would have been overwhelmed by Tyson who would have been far, far too strong.

In fact the reason why so many people believe Tyson would beat Ali is because of what I have just written. Ali had trouble with Foreman and loads of hassle with Frazier (who beat him once and in my opinion beat him on points in another too). Anyway - Tyson was like Frazier - just a lot, lot better.

Re: Tyson Retires

Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is to step back into the ring in a bid to settle his spiralling debts

I suppose it was inevitable.......

Re: Tyson Retires

I've got mixed feelings about Tyson. I never did like him when he was in his prime but did acknowledge his awesome boxing skills. I wonder if this exhibition will lead to a proper comeback. Now that he's older and really just a shell of his former self I'd like to see him just walk off into the sunset gracefully. If I want to see him at his devastating best I can through on dvd.

His most recent defeats to McBride and Williams have really tarnished his legacy but I still can't help but get a bit excited though whenever I hear the slightest possibility of a comeback. The problem is that Tyson we see today isn't the Tyson of the 80's, heck he's not even close to the Tyson of the 90's. I just always wonder if he screwed his head on straight and trained hard could he trouble some of the fighters today?

I wonder why it is boxers have a harder time letting go compared to other professions? A lot of the boxing community are getting excited about the come back of Tommy Morrison. Now in my opinion this guy had limited skills, a great left hook though, and shouldn't be allowed to box because of he has HIV. Then we have Evander Holyfield fighting again at 44 and bidding to become world champion for the 5th time I think. what is it that makes Holyfield keep coming back?

Oh and just re-reading the thread, I reckon both a peak Foreman and Frazier would beat a peak Tyson.
