If the City manager is willing to be patient with Hughes then its great bit of business for both sides.

You have an up and coming manager who has consistently made some great signings and had Blackburn in the top 10 for 3 seasons running.

Now he is going onto a bigger club with a big stadium and money to spend with what seems an ambitious chairman.

All points to a good combination but all comes down to whether Citys owner will give him time as sucess wont come overnight.

I wouldn't think many would make an issue of it. If they were geniune fans wanting the best for their club then they will see it as a great appointment.

Re: Hughes is City new boss

Aye he's a good manager and shown a shrewd eye for spotting talent, also takes no shite and expects nothing less than 100% off his players which is what City have been lacking of late, that 8-1 thrashing by Boro still gives me nightmares.

As for being an ex red that doesnt matter too much as we've had plenty of players off the rags in recent yrs like Schmeical and Andy Cole and the've all had a good reception, I've no doubt if he does well it will be a stepping stone to United and if thats the case then its all we can ask of him by doing well for the club.

And lets not forget that Busby was a City player.

Fine man, decent manager. He'll do ok I think. When you mentioned Busby and City there Slick you reminded me Denis Law went to City too.

No different to the modern day game at all that eh? Bloody hell. They wouldn't last 5 minutes now. Controversial?

I liked him as a player but hes a complete whinging bastard as a manager, not an interview goes by without him saying they were unlucky in this that and the other. Still that aside, hes done a very solid job at Blackburn and did well with limited resources with Wales beforehand. So yeah its a good appointment.

Whether he'll be around for the 2009/2010 season if you dont finish in the top 6 this season is another matter

On that criteria, Winrew, he's no chance of beating you to it.
