Think the songs work both ways though.

Yes maybe, but the difference being is we only sing about you when we are actually playing you.
Back on the subject of Ronaldo though, great players have come and gone in the past from Utd, trophies have kept coming and they will do with or without him, lose SAF though and things might just change, i believe he is the only person who will ever be irreplaceable at Utd.

Couldn't agree more Kop.
Did you see his interview with David Frost the other day on Sky?

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
No i missed it, i might check it out on the web later though, i've got to admit when he speaks i do listen, i've genuinely got a great respect for the man.
What price do you think Ronaldo will go for, if he does go?

If he was going to come out and say something 'official', why would he do it to an online Brazilian magazine?

Them fukers had Sven off to Mexico 2 weeks ago and us getting Hughes last week

Once again, the Press are making a story out of nothing and people are jumping on the bandwagon because they'd love him to go - either because Utd lose their best player or because they think Ronny's a prick
|
The press are , well the press and one step below child molestor but most fans want him to stay but also want him to go because it would make the rag fans sad and that's quite pleasant, like seeing a scouser cry or a geordie wet and depressed.
How about : Have you ever seen Rio with a bird
 @failure-hunters
It's part of supporting a team ,it what you 'post-99ers' dont understand!
Supporting teams isn't about wembley and trophys it's about away games and 8-1 defeats .
I really fail to see the anti-glazer nonsense , as soon as you went public , which kick started your sucess then you were playing by the stock market rules. You never complained when man U ltd won the treble so how on earth you can question the new owners , especially as they have pleased fergie so much is beyond me.
Let's have all the benfits of going public bit as soon as something that you percieve to be a bit dodgy then it's banners out time.
Sounds a bit spoilt to me

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
i went to a man united game a couple of years back at old trafford, full house, was dead boring though. i was at a loose end so went to see a mates dogs go off a bell vue and we took in the game
it was probably boring because we were sitting in a section not reserved for season ticket holders, nobody around us was talking to each other, was weird for me, i was almost afraid to speak ffs!
didnt think the price was that bad considering i pay £20 for inverness games, nobody else seemed to be grumbling about it either.
i did meet a couple of the cockney fans id heard so much about from disgruntled followers of other clubs they were alright and asked me which of the scottish supporters clubs i traveled with at the time i knew there was one in edinburgh but thought that was it, theres loads though, if having the old firm in town wasnt bad enough!
not a terrible day out was had, though i wouldnt do it again in a hurry

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
fair play to wayne, born and bred mancunian, every right to support man u,
its all the kids(and grown men) you see wandering around bromsgrove high st on a saturday afternoon in man u tops that havent been to a game in their life that piss me off,
blues, villa and west brom just down the road and a couple of decent non league sides local as well.
what i cant understand is all these folk that phone up talksport etc saying man u fan here from brum, portsmouth, london or wherever,i just dont see how they can feel part of a club that they have no ties with, ie no bond with that particular city having never grew up there or never having ever been to a game etc.
how can the pain of losing or the elation of winning be the same as a born and bred local fan of say hull or derby? (or brum for that matter!)
was wondering wayne what the man u born and bred mancunians think of the out of towners? do you take them onboard as one of your own or feel superior to them and think of them as glory hunters?

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
It's because they mistake supporting a team with winning trophys, it's 2 completely different things they will never understand.
Yes wayne is ok , albeit a bit touchy, but there are no excuses for supporting a team because they win . You miss out on so much, I can not say that I enjoy my teams wins more than say a Elgin fan, it's the same feeling.

you summed it up perfectly there, imagine for instance how the loyal rochdale fans felt when they got to the play off final at wembley a few weeks ago, 40 years of shite and suddenly a trip to wembley, the weeks build up to that final was probably the best week of their lives.
i remember when brum beat ipswich in the semi final of the worthington cup in 2001 to make a major final for probably the only time in my life, it was the best few weeks of my life the build up to the final, having tasted so many disappointments over the years made it seem so much sweeter, thats what being a fan of a local side is all about

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
and yes lads i agree, trying to explain to rangers fans in inverness that scoring in the 93rd minute to beat hearts 3-2 (after going 2-0 up with 5 minutes left, then we deliberately got their keeper sent off after they used all their subs (he was on one yellow and we pushed and pushed and pushed him till he cracked ), before we buggered up twice to let them draw level) away a couple of days before christmas was the highlight of my season doesnt register. of course they were close to an exceptional season by the clubs standards but up here the old firm are certs for at least one trophy a year, even those oldfirm fans who claim to have followed their side through the hard time have never seen them finish less than bloody 3rd in the league

The daytrippers at OT annoy the fuck out of most of us. You see them wandering about with a map in their hands, holding their Superstore carrier bags and taking photos of themselves with ' Mancunians' opposite Sir Matt's statue. They get in the ground and as my hero once said, turn into the 'prawn sandwich brigade'. They don't know the songs, contribute very little to the atmosphere and come for the 'entertainment'. You know the types - 'If we don't see 5 goals today, we'll be utterly bored'.
But these are the fuckers that the Glazers want - the ones that buy EVERYTHING. People like me who had a season ticket for 20 years, got in the ground 2 mins before kickoff, bought no merchandise/catering and then fucked off afterwards aren't their cash cow. And with the new debt, PLC or not, the local die-hard Utd fan is being/has been forced out because the profit/loss sheet is dictating so.
The out-of-towners who follow Utd away are a different kettle of fish entirely. Every club has non locals supporting them and anyone who follows their team away shows a massive amount of committment - whether they're Manc or not. The Irish that pile across in their droves being a great example.
Personally, however, I can't understand anyone being a 'die-hard' fan if they have no direct connection to it, no matter who/what it is. Probably easy for me to say being born around the corner from OT but thems the breaks.
Just been speaking to a mate who's a Donny fan and he's still going on about Wembley and their promotion. I began to feel jealous because the feeling he was going on about was like the one I had when we won the League and European Cup for the first time in my life. It's never quite like the first time again is it!

Probably am a bit Keem. I hate being compared to the gloryhunters you're going on about and makes me .
If any of today's 'fan' had stood there and watched players like Ralphie Milne, Arthur Graham, Garry Birtles, Peter Davenport, etc fuck up every week, they'd never have been back to OT! Sort of miss those days in a weird kind of way.

I wouldn't know mate , I wouldn't know
Not much celebrating round here to be honest though wayne , when you won in 99 it was mental but you could be right , yoy may be all winned out!
You need a spell on the opposition benches , well sit back and watch the blue half take over for a while

I don't know about that, Keem, what about your win over the Gills in the play-offs?
Still, the pain as a Gills fan of losing that one made the win over Wigan the next year all the sweeter.

Re: Ronaldo speaks - I'm off to Madrid
Wayne - why is it that Fergie thinks so highly of the Glazers? Seen an interview just the other week where he was praising them and saying what great people they are bla bla bla...?
