Credit Crunch hits football??

The transfer market seems pretty quiet doesn’t it

Besides Chelsea making an offer for Ricky Kaka, and Real’s “will they, wont they” pursuit of CRonaldo, there hasn’t been much to report on.

I think your big football clubs are looking ahead and are being cautious. Who wants to lay out mega money on an expensive player with an expensive 5-year contract with the prospect of a recession looming? Come Christmas, if there are redundancies, repossessions and and we’re in the economic mire – who will be able to spend money on luxury items like football matches and replica kits?

In their forecasts, I reckon club’s Chief Execs are warning against spending with all this looming on the Horizon. I mean the transfer market is absolutely dead – it seems like everyone has to spend to sell.

I honestly cant remember it being this quiet – its all rather dull isn’t it. The red tops are still brimming full of gossip this morning but none of the deals seem to come to fruition. Are clubs refusing to pay over the odds or are they all skint?

Re: Credit Cruch hits football??

Well the credit crunch has hit the super rich owners of football clubs. West Ham's biscuit baron looks fucked, Abramovich 'lost' $15billion with the recent fall on the stock markets, the tumbling price of fuel wont help City's rich men and who is going to be in the market to buy the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle when they are losing $ Billions every week in the current climate.

Worrying times ahead...

don't Keema that type of talk will make people hate us.

Aye fcuk em were loaded and the credit crunch will probably benefit us as other clubs start tightning there belts and we get the pick of the lot, I think Liverpool looking at Heskey speaks volumes as they'll need some cover for Torres for when he piss's off down the 602.

Re: Credit Cruch hits football??

aye we'll be like the Harlem globetrotters of football, be great to see Rooney chucking pretend buckets of water over the opposing managers only for bits of paper to fly out. we could also buy Beckham to run the half time free kick comp for the dads.

Has to be the way forward.
