Re: Keegan Walks?

More like no surprise as he's walked from virtually every job he's had.

Why the Geordies worship this fella is a mystery to me. No silverware (of note) in his career, bags of enthusiasm and..............well, that's it.

Football aint all about trophys and Wembly Wayne , the man rescued them from absolute oblivion.
Poeple say he walks but most managers are sacked and never have the option , ever consider that?
He walked out of England when he realised it wasn't happening , that twat McClaren didn't budge until he was paid off

Re: Keegan Walks?

OK, I accept he turned around a failing club and got Newcastle, Fulham and City promoted as Div 1 champions (from memory??). But that's it. He's never won anything of note and never succeeded at the highest level, be it with club or country. But he's made out to be some managerial messiah!?!

He's never been sacked because he jumps before he's pushed. If anything is going wrong in Keegan's job, he just packs it in. What sort of fighting spirit is that?

I do actually like the bloke for his enthusiasm but Roy of the Rovers was finished decades ago.

Re: Keegan Walks?

Will the owner " man of the people " Ashley still stand with the fans at the matches ?

Not if some of the comments from the Geordie fans are anything to go by...

I would love to punch him in his fat round face and as for Wise well I don't have enough time to state what i would like to do to him.

Newcastle united don't know how to communicate with there fans anymore th club is a sham its a total **** take!!!
I hope ashleys got his bodyguard with him he'll funking need them although dont know what chance he has with that angry mob outside the ground and the fact that theres nothing on the .co.uk site speaks volumes!!!
They are talking of boycotting the matches , cant see that happening , they have always ( the fans ) struck me as incredibly gullible and stupid...

Re: Keegan Walks?

It's official

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | Newcastle | Keegan and Newcastle part company

Manager Kevin Keegan has left Newcastle United after only eight months in charge, BBC Sport understands.
Keegan held talks with the club's board on Tuesday amid reports he was unhappy with a lack of control over transfer activity, notably James Milner's sale.
Newcastle's only business on transfer deadline day was a £5.7m swoop for Spanish striker Xisco and the loan signing of midfielder Ignacio Gonzalez.
The club has yet to confirm Keegan's exit, or the reasons for his departure. The 57-year-old's sudden exit is a surprise to many after what has been a positive start to the Magpies season which has seen them pick up a point at Manchester United and a win over a defensive Bolton side.

Re: Keegan Walks?

Catch the last paragraph of this

BBC NEWS | England | Tyne | Police warn Toon owner over beer

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley was spoken to by police after he was seen by millions of TV viewers downing a pint in the stands, Scotland Yard said.
The billionaire "received words of advice" after cameras caught him sinking a pint of beer in less than 15 seconds at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.
Police said a complaint was received from a member of the public during his team's 3-0 defeat on Saturday.
Newcastle United said Mr Ashley thought he was drinking non-alcoholic beer.
Premier League licensing laws prohibit the consumption of alcohol in view of the pitch.

He was sitting with travelling supporters wearing a King Kev replica shirt when he was caught by television cameras.

Don't rejoice - this is simply avoidance of paying compensation (and you know how penny pinching the current regime is). The official statement is designed to prevent a constructive dismissal claim. Ashley's lot know that if Kevin walks voluntarily, he does so without any pay-off.

And nothing has changed. The manager's position is still untenable, there will be limited investment in players, the squad is wafer-thin and there's nothing a puppet manager can do about it.
Makes sense i suppose , the fans will still be decked out in black & white at the next match , ive said it before , you could stick 11 shirts on wheelie bins and the dozy f**kers will still turn up on mass ...

Loving the Chronicle forum , they are going mental...

Re: Keegan Walks?

Newcastle have insisted they have not sacked manager Kevin Keegan after a day of intense speculation over his future.
More Stories

The Magpies boss had been rumoured to be on the verge of leaving St James' Park following a reported difference of opinion with the board over recent transfer activity.
But a statement on the club's official website confirmed the manager would not be pushed out of the club.
"Newcastle United can confirm that meetings between members of the board and manager Kevin Keegan were held both yesterday and today [Tuesday]," it read.
"Kevin has raised a number of issues and those have been discussed with him.
"The club wants to keep progressing with its long-term strategy and would like to stress that Kevin is extremely important, both now and in the future.
"Newcastle United values the effort and commitment shown by Kevin since his return to St. James' Park and wants him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager of the club.
"For the avoidance of doubt the club has not sacked Kevin Keegan as manager."
