Finished 2-2.

From The Mirror

Quote:
KENNY BACK IN THE OLD ROUTINE!
By Lee Reynolds
CELTIC and Liverpool hero Kenny Dalglish admitted he got emotional when he graced the Parkhead turf yet again in a game between the two clubs' "legends".

Dalglish, 55, came on as a late substitute for Liverpool, who he managed for the charity match which helped raise money for three charities.

About 15,000 fans witnessed a 2-2 draw in the game which will benefit the Celtic Charity Fund, the Marina Dalglish Appeal and groups chosen by late Hoops hero Jimmy Johnstone's family.

Darren Jackson struck twice for the home side but John Durnin and Steve McManaman levelled for the Reds.

Dalglish received a hero's welcome along with Danny McGrain when they came on as late substitutes, although the former Celtic full-back had already played the whole of the first half.

"To get on at the same time as the old boy was quite nostalgic. I know he played 45 minutes more but he is fitter than me," Dalglish joked.

The former Scotland player, who played for and managed both sides, added: "The two of us walked into Parkhead on the same day when we were kids and we used to jump on the same bus to get here." Dalglish praised the fans for coming out to support the charities, and a range of stars played in the match.

He said: "I can guarantee the money won't be squandered and everything will stay up here in Glasgow."

Davie Hay, who led the Hoops for the night, added his thanks to the fans and the players, especially McGrain.

He said: "Danny was apprehensive beforehand but even at half-time when he came off he wasn't feeling too bad.

"All credit to all the lads, considering their ages they put on a good show."

Re: Celtic v Liverpool legends

McGrain was brilliant. To show the fitness levels he did at his age was phenomenal and he would give Paul Telfer a run for his money at right back for the full Celtic side just now i bet

Have to say the occasion was a bit overshadowed for me by idiots who were booing Barnes due to his poor show as manager at Celtic. Bought Petrov which is enough for me now.

Dalglish bought Petrov, in between rounds of golf, as Director of Football. Then again he also bought Eyal Berkovic and Rafael Scheidt for about a combined £11m so that sort of balances out the Petrov buy for me. Barnes did feck all apart from get us humped by ICT and would probably be high in the running for worst Celtic manager EVER.
