Scotland This Week
Who's all going tomorrow?
Can't wait for the game - of course its France and they are playin well right now, and our team looks hopeless compared to theirs, but Holland, Italy and Germany have all failed to win at Hampden in recent times and we might just do something tomorrow.
With Italy playing Ukraine its also a big chance to stay right in the mix in the group.
Can't remember the last time I made a post without a Youtube link so here's some stuff getting me in the mood tonight:

Chreestian! Chreest!

Oh bugger Lawrenson is predicting a draw

Re: Scotland This Week
Let's see the lineups(probable):
Gordon v Coupet
Weir v Sagnol
Pressley v Thuram
Caldwell v Gallas
Alexander v Abidal
Dailly v Malouda
Ferguson v Viera
Fletcher v Makelele
Hartely v Ribery
McCulloch v Trezeguet
McFadden v Henry
I'll give them the last one, but apart from that we're pwning them in every position.

Re: Scotland This Week
Superb Beanie
Jeez, them goals take me back. I remember them all vividly from the Masson penalty at Anfield in 1977 onwards, my first Scotland game I can really remember watching. Shame they haven't got King Kenny's 2nd that night, a great header and you see the whole Kop end exploding as it hits the net. Dalglish tells a great story about how he was at Liverpool and the Welsh player Joey Jones was telling him that I think it was a home game for Wales but they played it at Anfield to get the bigger crowd. He expected to run out and see loads of Welsh but when they got on the pitch it was just Scottish everywhere
Was at the England game in 85 when Goughie scored the winner. First ever Scotland game was 84 when we pissed on Spain 3-1 at Hampden, Dalglish 2 and MoJo, what a night, 74,000 there.
Aye. Off tomorrow, bus leaves 9.30, just so that we ensure we get to the game on time
Hampden will be bouncing tomorrow, Flower of Scotland before hand, hopefully still in it at HT and some 500 Miles and the Loch Lomond and hopefully we will be hearing I'm On My Way at the end, especially "sitting on top of the world".
Wi my punting head on I don't really fancy us but as you said, Italy, Germany and Holland haven't won here in recent times and if you got me at 4.30 tomorrow I would be saying 2 or 3-0 us!
Cannae wait now, GER INTAE THEM!!!

Re: Scotland This Week
Those line ups do suggest a huge gulf in class but as France mainly fail to decieve i would not read to much into it.
If it means anything I've noticed Scotland are starting to play with their heart on there sleeve again against teams other than England, so who knows? even lesser teams than Scotland have managed a result against the French in recent yrs as they really are a team of journeymen.
I'll wish you guys well as i always support the home nations and won't be @ all surprised to see you guys manage a result by losing no more than 3 goals.

Re: Scotland This Week
There used to be a superb video on youtube with plenty more goals, including the Dalglish one you mention, but it looks like it has been taken down.
3-0 Scotland at over 100 on Betfair Like you I think France are the value pick(or were at the start of the week), but there's no way I can bring myself to back them.
Half time in these big games is something special - I remember the game v Germany and we were 1-0 down at half time - Loch Lomond came on and I don't think anyone sat down afterwards...the fans won us the point that day.
Have a great day crowie - I'm heading down the betshop for 3-0 and Dailly FGS first thing

Aye, good one Slick.
Tis true though, we are, at times, playing much better footy and at other times getting stuck in a lot more than we did under that wee German scheidt. Walter Smith deserves all the credit, has everyone in the squad playing for him, every game.

Re: Scotland This Week
One of my favourites for HT or before the game too....Frankie Miller - Caledonia
Quote:
I dont know if you can see, the changes that have come over me
In these last few days, ive been afraid that i might drift away
And ive been tellin old stories, singing songs
That made me think about where i came from
Thats the reason why i seem so far away today.
CHORUS
Oh but let me tell you that i love you
And i think about you all the time
Caledonia your callin me and im goin home
But if i should become a stranger
You know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia your everythin ive ever had.
Well ive been moved, and ive kept on movin
Proved the points that i needed proovin
Lost the friends i needed loosin
Found others on the way
And i have kissed the ladies and left them cryin
Stolen dreams theres no denying
Travelled hard with contience flyin
Somewhere with the wind
REPEAT CHORUS
Now im sitting here, beside the fire
The empty room the forest choir
Flames that couldnt get any higher
Theyve withered now there gone
But im steady thinking my way is clear,
And i know what i must do tomorrow
When the hands ive shaken and the flown i will dissapear.
REPEAT CHORUS

I don't think we ever stopped playing with our heart on our sleeve slick, its just we were shit. Even at our lowest point with Bertie Vogts, the players(the wrong ones in the wron positions) still played their hearts out for the fans, and when you see the Tartan Army on their travels, its easy to see why.
I'll never forget Steven Pressley having his 2 front teeth knocked out v Holland - we were 6-0 down at the time, but he just picked them up, sprinted to the side of the pitch, grabbed a bit of tissue, and sprinted back on

You going to any of the future away fixtures crowie? I've got two trips pencilled in...hopefully. Either France or Italy, and an adventure to Georgia all being well.

Hopefully France and Italy next year depending on hte good lady wife Would have loved to have been off to Ukraine next week but having done Lithuania last month I was never going to get to two in two months. Lad who works in my section is away on Tuesday, I'm gutted he's going and I amn't but then he had to suffer me winding him up about missing Lithuania and 80p pints and stunning burds!!

If Ukraine had been next year I think I would defo have done that instead of possibly Italy as I was there last time we played. Everyone seems to have hated it but I quite enjoyed Milan. Only fucker about Italy is they won't tell us where we are playign until about 60 days beforehand, by which time prices are pish for flights.
Georgia would be a goodie but near the very end of the campaign. Been looking for a cheapish way to get there and at the moment via Riga is looking an option.
Btw, France game will almost certainly no be Paris either.
Loch Lomond on noo!!

Re: Scotland This Week
I've given up on looking for cheap flights - I reckon just getting dropped off somewhere in Europe, fill up with plenty drink, and work it out as we go along is the way to go
Guy opposite me at work is off to Ukraine too - he wouldn't shut up about it today.
The epic live version of Loch Lomond:
