As a Talksport fan its better than nothing even though the
BBC get the Lions share.
The Premier League's coffers will be swelled by £40m after they sold their radio rights for the next three years to the
BBC and TalkSPORT.
The
BBC will broadcast 192 games after winning six of the seven packages - the maximum allowed under the Premier League's agreement with the European Commission - with TalkSPORT getting 32 games, the second pick of matches kicking off at 3pm on Saturdays.
It is understood the rights for the three seasons from 2007-08 to 2009-10 have been sold for between £35million and £40million.
The radio deals are inevitably dwarfed by the television agreements announced earlier this year which will bring in £2.2billion over the next three seasons.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "The
BBC has been synonymous with radio broadcasts of top-flight live football for some 80 years and it is pleasing to see their continued commitment to extensive coverage through this latest deal for the majority of the Premier League matches available.
"We welcome TalkSPORT as a new national live rights holder and look forward to working closely with them as we seek to offer fans increased choice and accessibility to follow Premier League action.
"These deals offer fans a full and comprehensive programme covering 224 matches a season on national radio as well as clubs featuring live audio commentary of all their games via their official websites."
The Premier League have still to announce their overseas television rights deals.
