Sports Wages

Anyone have a link to the average wage of different sports?

Rangings from top pier football, rugby league, nfl, tennis and so on.

Always been interested to know what many are on, probably more so the smaller sports actually.

If no one has any links but could put wages to players or whatever that would be great too.

Thanks

Re: Sports Wages

Things like Tennis and Snooker are purely performance based so it will literally depend on how well that player does in tournies. Just conjecture but I heard that not top tennis players can earn a lot of money but not top snookerplayers earn fcuk all.

Duno what significance the darts tourny I was watching the other day but it was called the World Masters so musta been something fairly big. Anyway the winner got 15K and 2nd got a poultry 2K.

Re: Sports Wages

In rugby union, 'frontline players' - i.e. solid internationals - but not necessarily stars would earn about the following:
England £120K pa
France £200K pa
Ireland £90K pa
Wales and Scotland similar to Ireland. The above would be total income from playing, including international games, but excluding sponsorship
Non-international club players probably earn about 1/2 that. Star names might get twice it.

I'm pretty sure rugby league players get less, considering it is less well supported with fcuk-all international dimension worth talking about. Virtually all traffic these days is from league to union, so I'd guess maybe 2/3 that or something in that region.
Many of the teams would be PLC's so you should be able to get hold of the data if you dig.

Re: Sports Wages

Well if you consider it, it makes sense Kiko. Average attendances are probably not too different to the bulk of Championship Football teams, and the international game is more of a money spinner. Fewer games per year (although not massively so). I dunno what average wages are in the championship, but I'd guess they must be at least double or treble what we're talking about here.

Re: Sports Wages

Cricket isnt particularly well paid unless your in the elite (by comparison)

A county pro is on about £30k I'd say, but the point is theres too many counties & too many average county pros.
An England international will get about £60-70k including add ons I reckon, + about £4k per test.
Englland captains about £140-150 + sponsorship & paper columns...around £250k all in all
