Instant Replays - Yes or No?

Quote:
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants video replays to be introduced into the game as soon as possible.

His side were denied an equaliser against CSKA Moscow when Thierry Henry was ruled to have handled the ball.

Wenger told BBC Five Live Sport: "There is a need for video technology because if you love football you want justice to be respected.

"Why refuse when the help is there? It becomes a weakness from the referees if they don't accept it."

He added: "When people see things that don't happen, you can question the honesty of people and you don't want that.

"With the incident on Tuesday, I would have preferred the referee to have said 'video please, I suspect there was a handball'. "Because when you watch it again it is clear there was no handball and that's very difficult to accept."
Have to say I think this is just Wenger spitting the dummy out and sulking over losing the game.

Whats everones thoughts on this?

Im against it to be honest as the game would be too stop-start imo. Where do you draw a line? How does the replay come about? Is it just down to the referee or can each team challenge decisions?

Would all turn into a farce for me and I hope it doesn't get introduced. Yeah the goal should have stood but some decisions of these go your way, others dont. Im a firm believer in it all evens out over the course of the season.

Re: Instant Replays - Yes or No?

On one hand I think it would destroy the flow of a football game. Where do you stop play? How do you treat anything thats happened between the incident and when the play is stopped? Where do you stop on what you analyse - whether it was a goal/corner/free kick/who's throw in?

On the other hand football is still governed mainly by a set of rules that have been in place for approx 100 years or more and this technology wasn't around when they made the rules.

If it was allowed only the Champions League and Prem sides all over Europe would have it and it would be unfair to the lower league sides in all countries.

Anyway we would have fcuk all to discuss/banter about these blatant dives, was it a penalty or not, handballs, fouls and such like.

fcuk the froggy

I think we should have goal line incident replays to see if those are goals. I dont think anyone could argue against that it just makes sense.

But as for anything else I just think leave it, its part of the game.

Re: Instant Replays - Yes or No?

In basic im against it... As you all say.. it could be a 3hours match then..
But on the other hand.. With a prober set of rules, this could be useful..
In NFL the manager has the option to demand the play to be looked through. BUT not all plays are allowed to look through..

Following could be allowed..

Liverpool goal against Chelsea in Champions League by garcia.. The ref says its a goal.. So game has been stopped at that point.. Is it to much trouble for him to run to sideline for 1min and look it through?? Or have a 4th ref looking it through backstage some where?? And again.. In NFL, there has to be CLEAR EVIDENCE, that the ref made the wrong call.. If there isnt that.. Then the first deceision stands.. So as i remember it... Garcia goals stands, since there is no video evidence showing that the ball was not 100% in....

Could be used in Manchester United vs Tottenham game 1-2years ago... Keeper has the ball.. Closest player is on the other half. (well almost ) Why not take a 1min break..
Cant remember when this game was played... But if it was a year that spurs just missed champions league qualification by a few points.... Then it was a very expensive mistake...

Liverpool vs Bolton.. Free kick awarded to bolton, because reina touch the ball outside the penalty box... Why not take a min to look that through, and admit that an error was done, instead of giving away a good chance..

That was just a few of the games, i just remembered... And there is problably a lot more i dont even know of..
But could mean a lot of money in the end for one club or another because a ref or linesman is drunk in play...

Liverpool is very poor atm.. (SHUT UP MUZE)
I doubt at the moment what liverpool will archieve this season.. Will they miss 4th spot...
Will it be by 1-2points, that might have been won against bolton...

There is a lot of if and if and if and if and if..... But we will always look back at the poor refs games, and not the games where the team was bad..
