Wise The Right Appointment?

Quote:
Former Leeds United boss Eddie Gray has urged the club's fans to back potential new manager Dennis Wise, rather than berating him before his arrival.

Swindon boss Wise and his assistant Gus Poyet are in talks to fill the vacancy at the Championship strugglers.

"If anyone comes into Leeds United and starts getting a bit of success, that's what the fans want - regardless of who it is," Gray told BBC Five Live Sport. "I think they will just be happy to see the team start winning again."
The fans don't seem to think so anyways.

Have to say whoever comes in here are putting their reputation on the line at a club which has fallen away so badly.

As for Wise. I don't remember too mucuh about his time about Millwall (didn't he do quite poor?) but he has made a good start at Swindon this season anyways.

Bet the fans would love to have wee Strachan back

Wasn't it Wise that took them to the FA Cup final?

I'm presumeing thats a joke CG??

Partly responsible for bankrupting them. Anyone inheriting Leeds must thank Risdale, O'Leary and the board that sanctioned that crazy spending splurge for the dire situation they are in now. They're still paying off some of those "glory days" purchases.

No its not a joke. The reason Leeds got into so much s**t was because of Ridsdale NOT O'Leary.

Re: Wise The Right Appointment?

Let's face it, Leeds are still in the shit. Their team is shit, their finances are slightly less shit than they were and they can only afford to pay for a shit manager.

For Leeds fans to talk about anyone half decent is self-delusion.The only manager they are going to get is either someone who's worked themself up through the non-league ranks or an ex player who still has loads of passion for the club and also wants to make his mark and move on to better things or.....erm....well that's it. Unless they can show Bobby Robson some team photos and con him into believing he's taking over Real Madrid, then that's their options.

It's like Accrington Stanley fans arguing about whether they'd rather have Morinho or Wenger in charge of them next month.

Main responsibility is with Risdale no doubt about that but O'Leary seemed to completely disassociate the finance element from everything else. The Board sanctioned oodles of cash and O'Leary never seemed to have any issues with that.

Besides that I've never rated him anyway. With one of the biggest cash inflows of modern times in such a short space of time he was still a nearly man at Leeds. I hated his press conferences (my babies ) and he was mediocre at Villa, a mediocrity thrown into sharp focus by O'Neill in the last few months. Favorite O'Leary moment - "I don't want to make this press conference all about the trial". 1 week later a book comes out called "Leeds United on trial"

O'Leary needs a cheque book to make any go of it as a manager. I can't see him back at football's top tables anytime soon. Leeds don't have the cash. In Ireland his meaness is incidentally the stuff of legend. He's commonlyy held to still have his first communion money (age 7)!

Leeds need an Adie Boothroyd or Martin Allen figure - someone used to working with limited resources, a motivator and someone who will get the fans behind the club. There is still the nucleus of a good squad there at Leeds that should be challengeing for Play Offs.

I think Wise will do a decent job personally. He was solid at Millwall with a much poorer squad and I think he will get some belief back in the dressing room.

Re: Wise The Right Appointment?

The jury is still out on Wise i'd say and i thought Leeds may have gone for somebody with more experience.
If they were going to go down the old Wimbledon boys route you'd think they would opt for somebody like Lawrie Sanchez as if the moneys right i'm sure they would temp him away from NI.

Master Bates won't be spending any money will he. He'll have lured Ernie in with talk of old times and how great Leeds can be again.Sleeping giant will no doubt have featured in his speech and he'll have hypnotized Ernie by looking in his eyes and telling him that he could go down in history as the man who turned Leeds around.

Talking of his eyes, have you ever noticed that when Wise looks at the camera he looks like Nookie fucin Bear

Cross eyed cunt.
