Main responsibility is with Risdale no doubt about that but O'Leary seemed to completely disassociate the finance element from everything else. The Board sanctioned oodles of cash and O'Leary never seemed to have any issues with that.
Besides that I've never rated him anyway. With one of the biggest cash inflows of modern times in such a short space of time he was still a nearly man at Leeds. I hated his press conferences (my babies

) and he was mediocre at Villa, a mediocrity thrown into sharp focus by O'Neill in the last few months. Favorite O'Leary moment - "I don't want to make this press conference all about the trial". 1 week later a book comes out called "Leeds United on trial"
O'Leary needs a cheque book to make any go of it as a manager. I can't see him back at football's top tables anytime soon. Leeds don't have the cash. In Ireland his meaness is incidentally the stuff of legend. He's commonlyy held to still have his first communion money (age 7)!
Leeds need an Adie Boothroyd or Martin Allen figure - someone used to working with limited resources, a motivator and someone who will get the fans behind the club. There is still the nucleus of a good squad there at Leeds that should be challengeing for Play Offs.
I think Wise will do a decent job personally. He was solid at Millwall with a much poorer squad and I think he will get some belief back in the dressing room.
