3 Things In Football That Have To Change IMO

These are 3 things which constantly get on my tits with football at the minute and would love to see a change in the rules.

1. Goalkeepers Giving Too Much Protection

This is becoming an absolute joke. Players cant even jump up and compete with the keeper nowadays without being penalised by the referee. Im seeing this happening more and more every game. Referees honeslty get it right around 1 every 5 challenges.

2. Injured Players Having To Go Off The Field

What kind of ridiculous rule is this? The player of team A gets injured by player of team B, gets treatment and then he has to go off to the sideline until the ref allows him back on the pitch. How this is fair is beyond me as team A are being giving a disadvantage when it should be the other way around.

3. Player Celebrations

What a joke this ruling has come. Ok i only play at a far inferior level to the Pro's but anyonewho has played and scored a goal knows the delight that goes through your body, especially the goals which are crucial to the result.

Now we have it as a complete joke where players basically haveto score, put there heads down and trot back for the kick off. Players booked for overreacting? Please.

Obviously these 3 rules aren't going to change the footballing world or anything but it certainly 3 things that just need a bit of common sense about.

Anyone have any others? Thoughts?

Agree mostly with the celebrating, I think you should get booked if you jump into the crowd but for taking your shirt off? Get a fecking life man.

Materazzi got a 2nd yellow in the Milan derby on Saturday night for doing a Ravanelli after scoring the 4th goal. Simply lifted his shirt over his head, didn't actually fully take it off. It was a bad sending off.

I totally agree with all 3 of those.

I remember when Cahill scored his first goal for us just after we signed him, was a late winner at Blackburn I think. Anyway hed already been booked but wheeled away with all the Everton players running after him whilst spinning his shirt round his head. Actually I cant remember is he did that or just lifted it up over his head (was a while ago). Anyway he got his 2nd booking for that

I hate it when they give goalies free kicks for anything at all. Just a player jumping next to them and the whistle blows.

I would also include goal line cameras in the list, just really should be done.

Maybe it's just me but i thought last night's game at the Nau camp was ruined by cheating, diving and thuggery, according to figures released by Uefa after the game we had just 40 min's of actual play.

Drogba started the game off kicking ,diving and faking injury from the whistle the rest of the players followed suit ,Marque's in particular hell bent on getting his own back on Drogba. If these are 22 of Europes finest god help the beautiful game i was brought up watching the 1970 Brazilians ,great teams like Spurs the
Blanchflower aera , Liverpool of the 80's , Man Utd of the last 20 years.
I'M afraid last night i was tempted to reach for the switch and watch the soap's
Is it time for the powers that be fine heavily Clubs like last night's with 10 bookings for bringing the game into dissrapute , as for the "chosen one " before getting at officials he should take Drogba and teach him how to play the game properly.

I must admit I had a wee chuckle when Deco went down clutching his leg after falling over Ballack, who was doing all he could to pull out of any contact with him. Cue Deco writhing about on the ground as if he is about to have his leg amputated. Terry boots the ball at him and hey, what do you know, he jumps up and charges straight at Terry.

Forget the fucking magic sponge, seems a ball booted at you when your rolling around in agony now cures all known ills. That one incident last night, more than any other, highlighted how much diving and cheating there was.

As for Mourinho to moan about diving..... Its still a sore point with Celtic fans. He had a great team in the UEFA Cup Final v Celtic but their display that night was one of the most cynical shows of gamesmanship I have ever seen....cheating, diving, time wasting, the lot. They did their "job" well that night against a niaive Celtic side in terms of these sort of tactics. Ohh and when he has a team comprised of divers like Robben and Drogba and cynical hatchetmen like Essien then he should remember the phrase about people in glass houses and pots, kettles and black.

Re: 3 Things In Football That Have To Change IMO

deliberate hand ball on goal line:- yellow card for the player who handled it and a penalty goal given to other team.
change to the points awarded for results :- 1 point for the away team and none for the home team.if the game ends in a draw
the ref can put players on report for challenges he never had a good view of.
let the physio on the pitch to treat players as the game carries on, if its a serious injury thats when the ref stops play to get the player off the pitch.

more to follow

Re: 3 Things In Football That Have To Change IMO

think the points sytems fair...

what has to change in football is the amount of money thats spent on players wages, and where the money comes from. the cost of me going to about 4 spl matches is probably more than my dad was spending on a season ticket
