Can Man Utd Win The League?

Whats everyones thoughts here?

Have to admit they are hanging around there far better than i expected and playing some cracking football in the meantime. They are winning games they may have not won last season with their last game away to Blackburn being a prime example of this.

I do think they lack a bit of depth in their squad and have got lucky with no real injurys so far but if Rooney, Ronaldo, Saha or Scholes were to get injured for example then they could start to fade away.

Still think that Chelsea's quality will tell in the end but its nice to see things not going all their own way at the minute and it looks like we have a title challenge on for now anyways.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

The RFO last week had Utd winning the league by anywhere between 4 and 6 points. I think they are in with a decent shout as you'd have to figure that the Champions League is Chelsea's priority. With that in mind I think that players might not be giving it 100% in every EPL game. Add in the fact that they are hated even more than Utd in their prime and that playing them is a cup final for everyone and things will be a lot closer this year.

Utd do lack strength in depth and the defence is weak. Landing Hargreaves and another defender would help and keeping Rooney and Ronaldo in one piece to the end of the season is essential.

Of course they can. What I'd like to know is where are all the pricks who were touting Liverpool to be Chelsea's main competition this year in the Prem

Too true. Depth I think is the only problem. If they do hit a rough spell then the likes of Rooney and Ronaldo are also prone to a few suspensions but I think Fergie will have hammered home a few ultimatums (spelling ?? ).

Think it will go to the wire and Arsenal although I don't think will be able to last te pace but could have a big say in where the title goes.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

The main difference this year is that they have very few injuries compared to last yr.
As long as Giggs and Scholes stay fit there more than in with a shouting chance maybe Ronaldo too, for all the player Rooney is Man U have managed to get by without him @ his best and they are not short of forwards to replace him.
They don't have that same luxury with Scholes and Giggs is having his best season for a long time.

I'm still here

Utd can if they can play like they did at Bolton every week, that was the best Premiership performance i've seen so far this season. Chelsea are big, strong and skillful though, Drogba's going to be up for player of the season along with a few other team mates, i think Chelsea will probably just come out tops, both teams will be well clear of the rest.

Ditto. Never stood a realistic chance imo they go on every season all the same though.

Ive said for quite a while about Man Utd actually being really good still despite many saying they are on the downfall and Ferguson should be sacked etc(second half of last season got as many pts as Chelsea etc) so it doesnt suprise me to see them up top at all. I think the current market 4/6 Chelsea, 6/4 Man Utd looks roughly correct.

Injuries are key as many have said on here. If key players stay fit all season itll go to the wire I think which will make for some good watching on this game

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

Well 8 points clear with Chelsea having a game in hand on them. Man Utd dont look like slowing down eithing winning something like 10 of their last 11.

Have to say if Sir Alex does win it then its by far his best achievement imo.

Before he has been blessed with superb youngsters coming through but here he has had to build a team. Also he has never had to compete with spending powers like Chelsea have at their disposal.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

In prime spot for sure Kiko but if either Rooney or Ronaldo are out (for what ever reason) for a long period of time then they will start to lose points. If they keep those two fit then I agree that they have a great chance.

To be honest I hate Manchester Utd but in a lot of ways I wouldn't mind seeing them beat Chelsea this year because they play the better football by miles. That said I would rather see Arsenal win the league over both of them but that's not going to happen this season.

Man U best price evens at betdirect and sportingodds at the moment.

odds on everywhere else including betfair.

Yes they can do it.

Chelsea will probably beat Newcastle midweek because they're shit but I think United have the easier game next week away to the hammers compared with Chelsea's visit to Everton.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

I have to say I think Evens is a good bet for Man Utd now. They should be favourites imo. If Chelsea win their game in hand and beat Man Utd when they play them, theyd still be 2pts behind. And for me that little 2pt gap in combination with Man Utds vastly superior goal difference (which will be worth an extra point come the end) means Utd should be favourites.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

I wouldn't tie my money up for 6 months on an even money bet like that MrM.

Remember that Chelsea could still go out in January and spend another £200,000,000 if they want to as well.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

Nah I personally cant be arsed to bet on it either but I think its a bit of value if I were to back either/or. The price is gone now anyway, 10/11 best.

Re: Can Man Utd Win The League?

Thought id drag this back up the top. How much change a Sunday could make.

Gota make Chelsea 4/6ish favourites to win the league again now but it was only 10 minutes from being a bit of a potential disaster for them.
