The petition has been sent to the BBC with 8300 sigs on it. We had to have a cut off point so that we could send it to them in good time. Been sent to Bob Shennan, 5-Live's controller.

I have escalated my complaint with them and taken it to the next level. Plus I have a banner to hold up at the arsenal game.

All credit to George Galloway. Not only did he sign the petition (number 89xx) but he has put a link to the campaign on his website. One of his researchers has written an article on it for the site.

He is also mentioning the campaign and petition on his next newsletter to the subscribers. Class act. And if that wasnt enough, he is interviewing Nick tonight on his radio show. George has allocated time in his show for a debate and a phone in on the subject. Fucking fantastic. The guy is an absolute legend.

We are so lucky to have him behind us on this. Like him or loathe him, he has principles and gets stuck into issues that he cares about. Not like half the faggot politicians that refused to sign the petition or get involved. Fannies....

Well, the show was broadcast and in the main the debate has done 'the cause' the world of good. 500 sigs in 2 hours late on Sunday night is absolutely legendary. Superb, it really is. For anyone that missed it, they can listen again here by downloading the show from George's site.

The fight continues as I found out today Granada are making a program with him to be shown next year. A sort of Gordon Ramsey program with KMac sorting out failing regional newspapers. Scumbag. They are next now...

I have sent an email today to Jenny Abramsky - the boss of BBC radio - and copied in the controller of 5-Liver (Bob Shennan)

Good Afternoon,

No doubt you are both aware of the growing discontent surrounding Kelvin MacKenzie and Radio 5 Live. You will have seen the emails or at least heard of the volume of complaints your organisation has received.

I think the attitude of the BBC on this matter, in short, stinks.

If someone's views offend and upset a large number of people, to brush them aside is completely unacceptable. Ms Abramsky, you say that Kelvin is a "very controversial figure, whose views are not always popular". I would ask you to visit our petition and then make your mind up as to whether Mr MacKenzie is controversial, or loathed.

I think his appointment demonstrated how out of touch with public opinion the corporation has become. It is not the job of the BBC to sink to the sort of gutter press level favoured by this gentleman. He is a liar and has been responsible for some terrible stories in his time.

If I might refresh your memory:

1) the 1987 Libel case (Elton John vs the Sun) which centered around macKenzie's false allegations that Sir Elton had used underage prostitutes - the Sun paid £1'000'00 in damages.
2) The Sun also fabricated a story that alleged a psychiatrist had declared Tony Benn "insane".
3) The Sun (under MacKenzie) was denounced as being "unacceptably racist" by the Press Council - following a story about Aboriginies

MacKenzie once said of his target audience at the Sun: " He's the bloke you see in the pub, a right old fascist, wants to send the wogs back, buy his poxy council house, he's afraid of the unions, afraid of the Russians, hates the queers and the weirdoes and drug dealers. He doesn't want to hear about that stuff (serious news)."

If that is the sort of listener you covert, Ms Abramsky, who am I to stand in your way?

Mr MacKenzie once said that the BBC was populated almost exclusively by "left wing turds". I beg to differ. On the evidence of the last 2 weeks, it appears that the BBC is now populated by some obstinate, stubborn "right wing turds".

Dont know much of Cloughie's opinions with regards to Hillsborough. What did he say? Havent been able to find anything on the internet. I would take anything he says with a pinch of salt. Afterall, he did buy Andrea Silenzi.
