Re: Champions' League Last 16 Draw

I think, Kiko, your main worry should be that Celtic have the 2nd worst defence in world football, behind Rangers. They aint too bad going forward but by God, it's kids football at the back. Beyond a joke. ANY side with a bit of quality should be able to cut through them at will. It could end up as bad as Gretna.

Re: Champions' League Last 16 Draw

Aye Celtic will have there work cut out to get anything from Milan, would have been a lot better if they had won the group and played the last leg @ home.

For a bit of fun lets go through the games and take a shot at who goes through to the next round, most look pretty straight forward..

Porto v CHELSEA
CELTIC v AC Milan
PSV Eindhoven v ARSENAL
Lille v MANCHESTER UNITED
Roma v Lyon
Barcelona v LIVERPOOL
Real Madrid v Bayern Munich
Inter Milan v Valencia

Re: Champions' League Last 16 Draw

RAFA: BARCELONA THINK THEY ARE BETTER
Paul Rogers 16 December 2006

Rafael Benitez has spoken about Friday's Champions League draw that pitted the 2005 winners against the current holders and warned Barcelona not to start celebrating just yet.
The Liverpool boss admits he has been surprised by the reaction to the draw in Spain but believes the Reds can learn a lot from the way they were knocked out of the competition last season.

"All I have heard is how they hoped to draw us," claimed Benitez, "they seem to think they are better. I have received a lot of phone calls from people in Spain and they were all saying how much Barcelona wanted to draw us. They will not lack confidence, but this is the Champions League, and everyone knows what a big difference it makes to our players.

"As Valencia coach, I won many times at the Nou Camp. In fact, over the past few years, Valencia have become their bogey team, so we will not have anything to fear. You only have to look at last season to see what can happen. Everyone thought it would be easy for us against Benfica. Now they are saying this is mission impossible against Barcelona. We have a lot of respect for them, but we have shown what we're capable of in this competition."

Re: Champions' League Last 16 Draw

I dont know about PSV / Arsenal being sexy football. I saw them against Liverpool and thought they were shite. I'd rather watch Bolton, then again most would rather watch Bolton because they are managed by the best manager currently in the game.

Everyone has written us off and we consequently have nothing to lose. If we go out, it is to the current European Champions and the best team in the world. No shame in that. I honestly think though that we are hitting top form now and Barca will be scared.

Rafa has got a good record against them and will relish the chance to get one over on Barca as will the entire team. This one suits us. We will win. Have faith.....

Re: Champions' League Last 16 Draw

Yeah AFU, PSV aint the total footballing side they were under Hiddink but will still be a good game none the less.

Celtics defence has been poor, no denying that but their performances against the BIG clubs in the CL away have been very respectable down the years. The reslts just havent gone their way. Its the weaker teams they seem to struggle with.
