Baros/Carew Swap Deal

Baros has signed for Lyon today with it seeming increasingly likely Carew will go in the opposite direction.

Great move for Villa imo.

Never rated Baros too highly and he has lived off his National side from their run in the cup. He misses too many chances for my liking.

Carew on the other hand is a great target man. His height is his strength but he is more than useful with his feet and has great control and skill for a bigman.

Should fit in well with Young and Aghbonalar(sp?) down the wings providing the ammunition.

Good deal and i look forward to seeing Carew more in the EPL.

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

This message arenīt good to Werder bremen. Saw an interview with the bremen coach Thomas Schaaf yesterday. He said that Baros and Carew are both good strikers and a possibility to check for a transfer.

..

Saw Baros in the last Villa match - he isnīt the old Baros from Czech ..

Yeah Fernandes hasnt been upto much at Pompey Mr M but he came with a MASSIVE reputation so am sure there is still plenty to see from him.

Bit surprised to see him go to Everton mind as he was whining like fuck about the EPL etc from the last interview i saw of his im sure.

His transfer free was around the Ģ10 million tag too

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

Apparently him and Harry Redknapp arent seeing eye to eye or summat. Its not 100% but he has taken a medical. I think hes valued at 12M yeah. Glad to see the back of Davies hes been utter shite since he came. Fulham have got Mcbride, Radzinski, Pembridge and Davies now!

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

Baros is shit. I've said so for years. People always mention his goalscoring record for the Czechs in his defence but isn't that game to goal ratio getting worse as time goes by too? He scored 4 goals one game for the Czechs I seem to remember and people have been spending (and wasting) huge sums on Forest Gump ever since.

Oh - and Carew is a better player in my opinion. A good swap by O'Neil.

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

The Fernandes lad, apparently the terms of his loan contract are if Pompey play him in 2 consecutive league games then they have to fork out Ģ12m for him I mean who the fuck agrees these sort of deals?

As for Carew - pish. Show me one club where he has been a success and actually showed any consistancy since he left Norway.

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

To be fair Crowie i can see where your coming from but i do think the style of teams he has gone to haven't been to his benefit as teams like Valencia, Roma etc expected him as their target man with him upfront on his own.

I feel he plays better with a partner and them 2 playing off each other.

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

I saw a little clip of him owning Cannavarro in this years champions league.

But you have to think if he is such an asset why would Lyon want to get rid of him?

He will probably have really good games and really shit games and not much inbetween.

Still Im sure he is better than Sutton.

Can't mock Sutton Chris and im sure many Villa fans will say they have been pleasantly surprised by Sutton's contribution to the team.

Might be getting on a bit but he still has the intelligence to play in the Premiership and he has done very well since returning.

Spot on Chris.

As you said, you saw him take Cannavaro apart in the CL, I saw Aberdeens Russell Anderson mark him out of the game when Scotland played Norway in Oslo.

He will have good/decent games and he will have howlers. I would suggest the bad games will out number the good ones.

And again as you say, if he is such an asset, such a top player, why does no one want to keep a hold of him. 64 league starts at Valencia in 4 seasons, 10 at Roma in a season, 25 in a season and a half at Lyon. All that says to me is "an option" but not good enough to claim a regular starting place.

Would disagree again Kiko. At Roma he was upfront with players like Totti, Montella & Cassano. At Valencia he had Aimar behind him and players like Vicente wide as well as Rufete, Mista, Sanchez plus quite a few more who could play up front with him.

He has never really, as far as I can remember, being played as a lone striker.

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

....but hes still better than Baros

Baros has been on a slippery slope ever since he hadnt played for us for something like 6 games but travelled to a Czech double international, played both, came back & then didnt play for about another month The general feeling was he came to Villa for 1 season in his mind as he expected to have a good enough World Cup to be bought last summer.
After saying that he scored the goal that arguably kept us up vs Blues last season, although he should have been sent off by the time he scored it

Once the fickle had got over Sutton play for the Blues & scoring against us, I think hes been seen as an asset tbh, as nobody expected him to play week in, week out

Re: Baros/Carew Swap Deal

I'm friends with a rather overweight (although decent) footballer who is a season ticket holder at Villa. He says Baros missed 4 chances on Saturday - 3 of which he is convinced he would have netted.

Baros is shit.

Carew can't be worse.
