Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

Not satisfied with doing one job badly, it appears Stuart Pearce wants to take on the England Under 21's job too. I can well understand his motivation, but cant see what City would gain from it.

I heard Stuart say that working with the best of England's youth talent would benefit Manchester City. Im not sure how.

He would get to know an awful lot about youth players and he would know all about the young talent this country posseses - but all these players would be under contract anyway. Its not as if City would be getting inside knowledge on the best youngsters because the big clubs have them contracted well before they enter the u21 Arena.

It seems to me that he is very enthusuastic, but IMO he isnt doing his current job very well and anything that would detract from that (eg managing a second team) has to be viewed in a negative sense.

Clearly the FA haven't watched city play this season as surely they wouldnt want to take him on if they had.

He is taking a big risk here trying to balance both jobs together. I would be pretty pissed off if i was a City fan with him going to be distracting from doing his club job by the International commitments. Fair enough if City were flying and everything was going well for them but it isnt.

Obviously wants to get his name down well for when the England job next comes around and feels this would put him into a better chance doing this job.

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

I think it's ideal for City and Pearce.

If you take a look at their U18 academy team who are clear in the league by a massive 13pts and were unlucky losers in last seasons youth cup then there must be some potential class there which Pearce could bring through for both club and country at U21 level.

1 Manchester City U18 18 14 2 2 40 16 24 44
2 Bolton Wanderers U18 17 9 4 4 22 10 12 31
3 Blackburn Rovers U18 17 9 2 6 25 17 8 29
4 Crewe Alexandra U18 18 8 2 8 32 31 1 26
5 West Bromwich Albion U18 18 7 2 9 26 28 -2 23
6 Manchester United U18 17 6 3 8 31 31 0 21
7 Liverpool U18 17 4 5 8 16 22 -6 17
8 Wolverhampton Wanderers U18 18 4 3 11 18 38 -20 15
9 Everton U18 16 2 8 6 20 23 -3 14
10 Stoke City U18 18 3 3 12 9 33 -24 12

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

City have the best youth academy in the world there is no doubt in my mind about that.

SWP, Barton, Richards

theres three from the last few years, all top permiership quality.

Next we have Onouha and Ireland who are both also Premiership quality, and very very good players. Ireland is looking awesome at the minute.

Thats all in the last few years, no other club has managed to produce 5 premiership quality players like that.

You'll get the odd one or two around from different clubs, Arsenal poach some from abroad so i think there up there with us.

We have this guy called Sturrdige who is supposed to be the next big thing, chelsea were after him etc.. and then you look at our under 18's there.

Its the only reason Pearce has kept his job, his signings have been awful, hes very very lucky he has so many good young players to rely on.

Daniel Sturridge is going to be some player. He gave us the run around in the youth cup final last year. Citeh were very very unlucky to lose that. Run us ragged at the COMS.

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

Its Citys youth set up that are bringing on the kids and not Pearce, that was well in place b4 he took over.
In a Nutshell we have the pick of the crop from the Northwest as as most kids know that with City they stand a good chance of getting first team football if they are good enough, the same thing doesent happen over the rd.

As for Pearce spotting talent, I've yet to see a decent player yet that he has signed and done a decent job for City. His hands may have been tied cash wise as keegan blew a big hole in the club by bringing in 'has beens' bar Distin.
But the bit of money Pearce has spent has gone to waste and how he thought Samaras was worth 5 million i'll never know.

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

Aye as Slick said, all the ground work for the academy would have been done pre-Pearce. Academies and youth policies take years and years to build and aren't done over night.

Corradi and Stavros Samaras are possibly the worst front 2 I have ever seen in the Premiership.

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

Pearce has to go its as simple as that, I really want him to leave.

Ive never seen such boring horrible football, ive never seen such awful signings and the fact he persisted with Coraddi for 20 games is absolutely astonishing.

He had 19 bad games and 1 good one.

He stans in the techincal area going mad all game, surely that just confuses all the players, its no longer endeering.

He is so so lucky that we have these youngsters because everyone else is shite bar Distin and Dunne, Keegan and Royles signings.

Haaman, Dabo, Corradi, Dickov

4 of the worst signings anyone has ever made ever.

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

Pearce has no clue whatsoever , he seems like the sort of idiotic patriot who'd rush over the trenches into no mans land at midday painted flurescant yellow for his country . Who's gives a fuk about the u21's?
He's prepared to gamble his paid job to take it on cos he's had the call.
He wont get the Engkland job on the back of his u21 stint , he may get it if he builds a team at club level.
He wont critisise the refs , a cowardly bunch who must love reffing citeh as they get off scott free no matter how badly they perform.
He didn't bring any strikers in during the window even though he had 31 days , that to me is neglegant

It soon became clear Pearce might be in for a difficult evening as the visitors, with Jose Jurado particularly impressive, playing neat passes and keeping possession while England reverted to stereotype and belted long balls towards the corners.
Pearce all over, boring shite football. England U21's btw

Re: Stuart '2 Jobs' Pearce

If he doesnt watch out he'll end up with no job come the summer.
Three lucky rsults over christmas have saved him to date and he's not even the sense to fill in the gaps City are lacking.

Luckily we don't have to bad a run in till the end of the season but a couple of hiccups and we'll be right back in the relegation fight which I don't think we'll get out of.
I hope it doesent come to that but if it does I don't think Pearce will have the nouse to get us out of the shit, I have a feeling the board know this too and one of the reasons they are not releasing him funds.
