Cheeky Goal Tender
Must say this made me laugh, puts Joey Barton's antics to shame.....
Quote:
A college ice hockey player in America has been forced to apologise after dropping his trousers during a game and waving his backside at supporters.
University of Southern California goalie Mickey Meyer made his dramatic intervention during an ill-tempered game with the Brigham Young University Cougars at a tournament in Utah.
As well as baring his rear end, Meyer compounded matters by riding his hockey stick like a hobby horse and slapping his buttocks.
The cameo apparently earned him a standing ovation from the crowd but was less appreciated by a watching police officer who, after Meyer had been ejected from the game, cited him for lewdness - which could earn him a $1,000 fine and 180 days in jail if charges are pressed.
Police sergeant John Italasano sounded fairly understanding when he said: 'They were losing and frustrated and hockey is a wild game.
'I guess he acted before he thought of the consequences. They were playing BYU, so yeah, people were offended.'
A suitably sheepish Meyer said: 'Obviously, it offended some people and for that I apologise as it was never my intention to offend anyone, or hurt my team.
'I just kind of had my fill of these refs. To be honest I'm a theatre student and at the time I did it to make people laugh.'
Judging by the internet radio commmentary of the game he did just that. Sadly no pictures are available but USC broadcaster Andrew Samel clearly enjoyed the show.
'Mickey Meyer has just mooned the crowd, ladies and gentlemen,' he reported. 'The Oregon players (in the stands) are loving it. They're going nuts. That was absolutely hilarious.'

A comedy morning in Utah was completed when Meyer was replaced by the USC reserve netminder, none other than Matt Buttweiler.
