Re: Ipswich sign Jeffers

"It's a real coup for us to bring Franny to the club," boss Jim Magilton said. "He had Premiership pedigree and has played at the very highest level with England, so it's an exciting signing for us.

"He has played for some of the top clubs in the country and has cost over £10million in transfer fees so that tells you something about the player."

Jeffers, 26, was once capped for England but he has failed to impress since moving to Arsenal for around £8 million in 2001, scoring only eight league goals in five seasons in a career that has seen him return to the Toffees on loan, join Charlton for £2.6 million and spend less than a season at Blackburn.

The player who scored 13 goals in 16 games for England's Under-21's has only hit the back of the net once this season

Its amazing the clubs that arestill taking chances on him. He has proven each time he has lost his potential he had at Everton. Looking back tats some great business Everton did with him wasnt it.

Not when he was at Everton no. But I think he got too big for his boots when he got shipped to Arsenal.
